AK owners, I need some suggestions. The iron sights on AK's are known to be terrible. What optics do you use, and where did you get it? I've been looking at some POSP and PKA scopes for authenticity, but I would like some outside opinions.

I'm interested in low end magnification, but I'm also leaning towards no magnification red dot type optics. I just can't decide.

get a ghost ring to improve the irons and then go from there

Any specific brand to look for/avoid? If something that simple fixes it, I'd be happy.

I love the AK iron sights. Traditional AR irons suck ass. Then again I learned to shoot with a nugget so I'm bias. Just make sure to get a jail mount if you're doing AK optics. Rail optics are shit on AK.
>>
>>30015059
Don't blame the sights. They're just as good as any iron sights I've ever shot. I did my time, going every other weekend for a few months and I can hit just about anything I can still see at pretty fair distance. Just practicseparate.

In fact, learn the irons before you get a scope. This will be a good exercise for you in trying things yourself to form your own opinions, a very important habit to form.

AK irons are great for quick acquisition and a much better combat sight for close quarters. Having open sights is optimal for close encounters.

That said, I use a MI 30mm AK Red Dot mount, I like the side rail because it's quick detach and balances well. It's excellent in construction, holds zero fine and standard 30mm red dots allow you to co-witness your irons in the lower 1/3rd.

Some people like mounting red dots scout-style on an Ultimak gas tube, adds a lot of weight forward but its a convenient answer to adding a dot sight and a light.

If you get the 30mm scope mount by Midwest you get the same quality with lower third cowitness if you run a 1x scope. That's probably your best option if you want the best of all scenarios, a 1-4x or 1-6x scope will give you essentially a red dot up close, a little more magnification for a stretched out shot, cowitness at 1x zoom and quick detach.

I have the circle 10 U-notch

Krebs makes the best one, and it goes down from there. I have the circle 10 U-notch

The cheaper one might not have range adjustment markings on them but thats a matter of preference. As long as its made of good metal its should be fine.

A used COMP M4 usually goes for $350

Plus a RS mount.

A aimpoint T1 or H1 on a ultimak rail is another good option.
>>
>>30015413
Oh, I'm not new to the irons, I've had my WASR for about 4 years now. The sights work, but any blade sights make it more difficult to aim, especially low contrast situations. It's just time for an upgrade.

Ebay, but make sure its a reputable seller.

Maybe you should spend more time with them rather than reading what AR15 faggotrons will tell you about them.

>>30015889
>whatever you do, don't put western optics on it

How do you describe a phenomena like this? It's like a double reverse 360 fuddism. I see this all the time among "ak guys". It's one thing to have/use eastern optics as an appreciation for eastern hardware, collecting, """"authenticity""", etc. It's another to actually suggest it as a serious alternative when Russians themselves almost exclusively use EOTechs given the money and wiggle room to do so.

OP if you want to buy into the "EOKek is shit meme" just get an aimpoint like

>>30015487
>>30015435

That midwest mount is also bretty good.
>>
>>30015464

They're nonexistent right now. I haven't seen anyone care one in months. I've kept my eye out, can't find them.

That said, does anyone have experience with the Hi-Lux CMR AK762? Looking to pick one up and heard mixed reviews on quality control.

Kalinka optics might have a x2 or x4 red dot, don't remember off the top of my head. I want some of the bargain bin optics because they discount nearly $100 sometimes for something like the highest brightness is a little too low, or something
>>
>>30016751
i just really hate the way they look, its an aesthetics thing
>>
>>30018241
do they actually help at all with giving you more grip? or are they just a waste of money? i like the way they look, and might put one on mine but not if it actually doesn't do anything other than look neat. what brand do you have? Pics?
>>
Does anyone know of a good side mounted scope red dot that would fit a N-Pap. Something like the Kobra or pk-as
>>
I'm guessing that since there isn't one up yet this will act as a AKG thread for the time being? Good. Have a question about muzzle breaks. The break shown in pic related, is labeled as a "vityaz style" muzzle break. I like the look of it, but despite googling and youtubing to find reviews and videos demonstrating it, I have found nothing. Have any of you had any experience with it? Wanted to know if it would be worth buying or not. Thanks in advance.

>They're just as good as any iron sights I've ever shot.
Ak irons, just like every feature on defended by delusional "RIFLE IS FINE" autists pales in comparison to AR15 pattern.

AK is just flat out inferior.
It's fine and fun and good looking rifle which is more important to a civvie user, but if you get into a gun battle with an RIFLE IS FINE vs an AR15 which has been configured for a gunfight, you are at an SERIOUS disadvantage.
At range or plinking, it doesn't matter but claiming that AK is objectively as user friendly and good to use as an AR is just a batshit stupid belief held by dumb vatniks

>selector lever on right side which requires you to do gymnastics to use properly
>have to do a reacharound to charge it
>welded, non modular construction
>"good enough" sights
>ergonomics made for an illiterate peasant
>sight radius shorter than a weebs dick
>poor construction with a 10,000 shot lifetime before you need to get a new gun due to non-modular design
>just as reliable as most modern rifles
>less accuracy than other service rifles
>90,0000 failed replacement programs since lol ruble dropping harder than skrillexes bass

Nobody is using a PO3.5x21P?

They are good scopes and have a lot of nice features. Never saw widespread use, but still a nifty thing. Only bad part is the weight and the fact that shooting with one can be uncomfortable.
>>
>>30019578
I have the one in the picture
It helps with grip a bit but I mostly bought it because the charging handle had some sharp edges on it and I actually sliced my hand open operating it once.
Also, it looks cool
