Was wondering if any /k/ops, other LEO, or average autist /k/ommandos can recommend a good pepper spray solution for a lady friend.

I went out and tested some gel mace with my ex girlfriend in the woods once, that fucking can runs out QUICK, you better hit them. i would get a couple of larger cans, and i would have her practice with them. you don't want the time that you need it to be the first time you use it.

You can carry them on your keys, if she is walking from her car to her house and she feel sketched, she can carry them on her keys

You want either FoxLabs or DefenseTech, these are the best two companies out there and make stuff way more potent than the cops use--which is good because cop-level sprays are shit, they care about lawsuits. DefenseTech is the stronger one but I'd actually recommend FoxLabs, because DT is evacuate-the-room tier and might impede her just from proximity. Get the cone spray, not the stream and NOT the gel.
The stream is better for not being knocked around by the wind, but the spray is easier to have a badguy inhale, which is going to irritate the shit out of their lungs--which is super useful. It's also easier to hit with in non-windy situations because you need less accuracy.
Gel is worthless for your use, and can actually be scraped off.
You can buy holsters, or keep it in a pocket. I recommend the holster but women don't always like wearing belts, so...
She has GOT to practice using it though, either with an extra can or a practice spray, and ideally needs to get sprayed at least a little bit so she knows how to deal with the pain when she inevitably gets some on her using it (she still needs to be able to run away with the backspray or call police with her phone).

This is generally not great advice. You WANT the spray, you want that to be breathed in, and you want it to have a wide area of effect. If it's small enough for your keychain it's going to have hardly any amount of spray in it.

Yeah I've also read that if wind is blowing it can blow into you, etc. Though, I guess if you blinded both of you it'd be better than nothing at all.

Yeah I'm not pushing it. This is more of a longtime friend/casual relationship. I've taken her shooting once and she seemed to enjoy it, but maybe because it is something I enjoy more than the actual shooting.
She's an "artsy" type. While I know if she trained she would be capable with a firearm I just don't really see he interested carrying. We'll see.

Try Fox Labs (not the green one) or Sabre Red, preferably the spray version. Also get a spare one and a can of the inert spray as well. Use the spare one to expose her so she knows what it feels like and use the inert to practice.
Ultimately this is a little bit like eyepoke in a can. If someone gets aggressive it's spray and GTFO, no matter how out of it the aggressor looks.

The spray should ALWAYS be used in conjunction with leaving and calling the cops. This is NOT the time to laugh at the guy who's in pain and egg him on--you can work through the pain even if you breathe it in and get it in your eyes (with the shortness of breath and involuntary eye closure), with enough willpower. Some people aren't as effected by it as others, and you can get used to it according to a guy I know who was the aggressor for a woman's self defense class and got sprayed 8-10 times that weekend--by the end of it he wasn't even that slowed down. (I don't recommend trying that, I've heard it's possible to get allergies to it by too much exposure too, or something of the sort.)

This is actually a good consideration as only 90% of people are affected by OC alone. The combo of OC and CS(Mace) ensures you get some effect from the spray to give you time to get away. Average time it takes for someone to recover from CS is 90 seconds and OC roughly 2-4 hours.

Precision goes out the door in Self-Defense scenarios. You are "scribbling" all over their head area, trying to aim for the eyes but in the moment you are just just emptying the can in their direction. If he is charging at you "merely" step out of there way ( we are not allowed to extend a foot out and/or kick or trip; you as a private citizen should - don't let that spicy fucker touch you. )
We use a holster because we are security. I have never personally sprayed anyone, though I have drawn - the times I have drawn have always been for compliance ( read: intimidation ). I can personally say the in a scenario were life & death were involved, you are going to want something more accessible. When you have a lot of time in the world, a holster is okay; as a Security Officer I RESPOND to incidents; someone calls for help and I answer, I go in knowing at least a basic summery of the situation and how many people are involved. If I am outnumbered, I am going to be keen on the stingy spray.
You should consider a key chain for normal travel; if you are jogging or walking then consider getting one with a flex/velcro hand retainer; you are jogging WITH the spray IN your hand the entire time.

A story from my FTO...
We get a call of a sleeper near the tram station ( to Luxor and Mandalay Bay ); My FTO responds immediately and backup #1 is on lunch ( still can/will respond but with delay ) and #2 is at the parking garage a good 1 min 45 sec away, which is an eternity during when you work Graveyard Security on the Strip.
We are first and foremost a Guest Service industry, so we politely ( we always treat out subjects with the same respect they treat us; and assume the best at the initial encounter ) inquire if the individual is lost or 408 ( Intoxicated Individual ); the subject is laying down in a sleeping bag. The subject begins to shift his arms inside the sleeping bag and tells my lone FTO to " Fuck off. " My FTO then curtly tells the sleeper " okay, come on it is time to go; " this dialogue is enough to end 99.9% of confrontations with homeless people - they know the drill and will usually move on to the next Casino to sleep. This one wanted three hots and a cot apparently. FTO tells subject to show his hands and stop moving around in sleeping bag; subject brings arms out rapidly to give finger; FTO things he is bring out a weapon and draws and sprays subject ( mind you we are armed outside, fucker is lucky he merely got SPRAYED )...
This is the part of the story I want you to pay attention to...
The individual did not get incapacitated by the spray... he got enraged. He bounced up out of the sleeping bag and proceeded to beat my FTO to the ground, when back up responded the subject had both hands around my FTO's throat and he was down with his back to the ground, unconscious. The responding officer drew his Glock 22 and the subject then laid down and awaited for inside ( unarmed ) units to arrive and compliant-cuff his vagrant ass.
