What kind of optic would /k/ put on his/her sks?

>inb4 "Just leave it with irons bro"
>>
SKSes aren't accurate enough to warrant a scope. If you need optics, you need a different rifle.
>>
>>29991031
Yes they are. I'm not an SKS-fag. I'm just stating the facts.
>>
>>29991031
eat a dick.

>>29990982
I'm going to get a brass stacker mount and go with some kind of long eye relief scope eventually. That's for the milsurp models, the ones norinco manufactured for the US market later have a different layout which those aren't compatible with. But I'm sure you're less worried about bubbafying something that isn't C&R.
>>
Can't go wrong with a PSO-1 on Russian platforms.
>>
>>29991085
Currently residing in Commiefornia, so I really can't do much to bubba it out anyways. Been reading up on the Brass Stacker and it seems like a pretty solid choice for a mount. I dig the six points of contact. I was thinking low eye relief too, but I want one short enough so I don't have to use the brass deflector. Brass deflector = no stripper clips. I'd basically be fucked.
>>
>>29991096
What's the magnification? I'm in an urban environment, i don't need anything too powerful.
>>
>>29991288
Well the power is 4x and it guides for target distance of up to a kilometer. If you're urban but still feel a need to make use of a scope of some kind then I'd say its good.
>>
>>29991064
>>29991085
The best an SKS can do is like 4moa, that could soar right past a man sized target at 300m+ center mass.
And keep in mind that's the Best you can get out of one of these.

If you want to bubba your rifle go ahead, I'm not stopping you but you are making a shit decision.

>Can't go wrong with a PSO-1 on Russian platforms.

>putting a side rail on an SKS
>finding an actual PSO-1
>getting a cheek weld
>keeping brass off your sight

sure, you can do it, but I guarantee you haven't seriously considered what it takes to do that on an SKS
>>
>>29991813

I just want to throw an optic on my sks so I don't have to use irons
>>
>>29991957
It'll look bubba as fuck, but you could mount it with a wood block to tilt it away from or bring it way back from the ejection port. Or find some kind of brass deflector to make it bounce off to the side. I mean if he really wants a scope or sight of any kind it'll take some work and sacrifice of any modicum of respect from the greater population here anyways. Might as well go long.
>>
>>29990982
Just leave it with irons bro.
>>
>>29991961
Have you gotten a reasonable amount of range time with your sks yet? You should always put at least 200-500 rounds through anything new to decide if you really do need something like an optic or different furniture or whatever you want to add or change out on new firearms.

>>
>>29992045

In Canada most people that add sideplates to their Vz.58/CZ-858s will also make a brass deflector out of sheet metal
>>
>>29990982
None because they aren't suited for it at all. Pretty much all available optics mounts for the SKS are tacky garbage or gimmick shit.
>>
>>29991085
God damn you're gonna need a chin weld for that shit.
>>
>>29990982
I would consider a mini14
>>
>>29993608

Not OP, but banned in Chicago.

I'm looking for a hog gun, and the 7.62x39 seems like a good option.

Shit, are irons good enough for that application?
>>
>>29993642
I'd say irons are better than poorly mounted optics.
>>
>>29993642
If anything i would consider a peep sight upgrade but those russian open notch sights allow for a pretty good field of view

Just leave it with irons bro
>>
>>29992159
That's a solid point.
>>
I'm thinking of getting a gas tube rail for mine and putting a Vortex Sparc on it. My astigmatism makes using notch sights pretty difficult.
>>
>>29991085
Brass stacker hasn't had those mounts in stock for forever.

If you want to keep it classy looking, I recommend a Russian PU scope from a mosin or SVT40. You can get them aftermarket and they're easier to mount than the PSO scopes since they aren't clamp mounts.

Also; The pic isn't mine, just taken from Google.

>>29991085
I gotta ask-what the heck have they replaced the bayonet with in that image? A length of rail? How would it stay on?

I ask because I really want to do something just like that image.

Now that looks neat. I may have to try that.
>>29991085
How the hell did they move the entire front sight assembly back? And what the hell are those tiny babby rails at the front of the stock?

That's what I'd want to do too if I added to mine, but you'll need a brass deflector.

My rear sight blade was damaged by the previous Ivan.
I bought a scout mount and mounted a vortex red dot, I hated it.
But the mount came with aa emergency rear sight that is way tighter than the original rear leaf.
I'm in thick wood its plenty accurate for deer hunting and secondary beer hunting weapon
