Sup /k/.

I'm writing a paper on why gun free zones don't work. Input?
>>
>>29980764
Well for starters, that comic.
>>
>>29980764
A piece of paper, sticker, or law has never ever stopped a criminal from doing what they want.
>>
Gun-free zones are not specifically a good or bad thing in my opinion, since it typically involves a private entity saying no, which is perfectly fine in this world. Also, could you name some shootings/crimes/whatever that took place in gun-free zones?
>>
>>29980764
Get ready for that D- my man.
>>
>>29980808
Most if not all of them.
>>
>>29980808
Columbine
Aurora
Newtown
Fort Hood
To name a few

is your school a gun free zone?

hide an airsoft in your bag and shoot your teacher with it as you hand in your paper
>>
>>29980764
People without guns can't protect against people with them?

You're not supposed to do this but /thread. Yeah I just /threaded my own post. You know I'm right.

All schools in the country will be in lockdown for a week

If you know you're right then let someone else /thread
>>
Has there literally ever been a (relatively modern) big news shooting that WASN'T in a gun free zone?
>>
>>29980840

>>
>>29980861
San Bernardino was in a public place I think. Wait no it was at a retard center I'm sure it was a gun free zone. What was the one that happened in Texas on the same day? They were both terrorist attacks though not domestic lunatic shootings so I don't know if that counts.
>>
>>29980827
Which is why we need more gun laws.
>>
>>29980847
>>29980868

Calm your tits, it's an expression. How often does a /thread actually kill one? Almost never.
>>
>>29980764
Because there's no enforcement.
>>
>>29980889
don't worry, the police will protect you.
just sit there and wait while some burglar takes your shit and rapes your wife.

It would be feasible if we restricted the category of gun-free zones to places where it is easy to check everyone going in or out.

This. We just need to figure out how to pic related.

>It would be feasible if we didn't try to do it in places that need it.

What stops someone from shooting the unarmed minimum wager with a metal detector and going on a rampage?
>>
>>29980834
We have to keep our CC secured in our vehicle. I should've gone to uni in Utah where you can carry.
>>
>>29980834
>>29981075
Walk in in a trenchcoat, reach inside as if going for a gun, make a finger gun at your teacher and say "BANG".
>>
>>29980937
>>29981054
You'd enforce them with guns, from your trusted police, and "noble" government.

Totally trustworthy airtight plan. It's totally a smart idea to allow weaponry for the government and not it's citizens.

(That was meant to be sarcastic)
>>
>>29981061
Same way they handle it at courthouses and so on.
>>
>>29981124
Yes it would be enforced with guns, but it would remain a "gun-free zone" as all the guns would be OUTSIDE the zone, located at all possible entrances. And I imagine the guards would be hired by whoever owns the facility, rather than just being government/police.
>>
>>29981098

even better, roll the report up and keep it in a shoulder holster under a black trench coat.

but anyway, gun-free zones don't work because they require the voluntary compliance of the very people who are most likely to ignore the rules.
>>
>>29981128
You mean by arming the guards? But then evil black babbykillers would soil the peaceful haven!
>>
>>29981135
OK, Big Brother.

if you dont already know, why are you writing a paper on it? loaded conclusions?
>>
>>29981247
that someone wasnt yourself though, right. remember, the only person you can lie to is yourself
>>
There is no real way to enforce a gun free zone, as those who want the zone to be enforced will be outgunned (literally)
>>
>>29981124
My point was that making actual gun free zones would require breaking multiple laws of physics.
>>
>>29980764
Start with "warren v district of columbia" (Washington d.c.)
Its actually frightening.
In short-
>people break into home
>women hide, call 911
>cops show up twice, never investigate more than a knock on the door.
>burglars find women, plus third roommate that came home.
>take them to other location, rape and beat them for 14 hours.
>women sue the city
state supreme court rules-
>"police are not obligated to protect citizens"
>>
>>29981745
As mentioned above, courthouses are for all intents and purposes a form of gun-free zone.

>>29981805
>"police are not obligated to protect citizens"
Isn't that the basic job description of the police?
>>
>>29981840
>Isn't that the basic job description of the police?

No. They're peace officers, not bodyguards.

Their job is to detain people breaking the law. If they manage to stop the lawbreaking before it is completed, that's a happy coincidence. But it's not the goal.
>>
>>29981247
this is terrible
>>
>>29980861

None that I can think of that weren't stopped by an armed citizen.
>>
>>29981861
This is the problem with modern society.
People rely on police to protect them, but its not their job or intent. It's the individuals job to protect themselves and their family.
Here's another issue-
Every liberal douchebag in Hollywood has employed an armed bodyguard, and the average citizen expects them to do so.
Average person also expects armed persons protecting their money at the bank.
But all of these people don't want any type of armed security of even the ability for they themselves to carry a weapon around their child's school.
Fucked up priorities.

>>29980808
in america all but one mass shooting happened in a gun free zone since the 1950s and that one happened in a mall which didn't allow conceal carry so all of them.
>>

not him but apart from being a little short, why? content was dank enough
>>

They don't make the news.
2 cops shot in Vegas while they were eating lunch.
Suspects fled into walmart.
Stopped by citizen with conceal carry.
Nobody I know outside of las Vegas heard about it.
>>
>>29980764
Don't remember where I heard this, but 48 of the 50 deadliest American mass shootings happened in gun free zones

Consider for a moment, why they don't allow people to open carry at presidential candidates' rallies. Consider why you can't waltz around a high level nra meeting with a fully loaded AR. Ponder why you'd never be allowed to moonwalk into trump towers dual-wielding gold plated kalash's.

Why shouldn't the average joe be allowed grenades, class iii goodness, and explosive devices into said facilities? Why do they hate real 'mericans and freedom?
>>
>>29981970
Um I heard about a shooting in Vegas where they killed cops, fled to Walmart then killed a guy with a gun that tried to be a hero while everyone else left.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/06/09/las-vegas-shooting-officers-dead-possible-white-supremacists.html

I guess they did get stopped by a guy with a gun since they committed suicide after they Finished killing the guy in Walmart that had a gun.
>>
>>29980764

to have a concealed carry permit you must be a law abiding citizen without symptoms of the crazy for the most part
>>
>>29980764
Laws only matter to those willing to obey said laws
>>
Well first off, gun stores need to run a business so you can't expect to get a free gun like you get free coffee at McDonalds.

What? But Protect and serve. Its right there. Protect.
>>
>>29983113
It's a motto, not their specific instructions. There was a court case in the late 20th century that rules that police are not required to protect human life or property.

Some apartments may not allow guns, probably not most though. Although I'm pretty sure your buddy pictured there killed almost half the people by stabbing them in an apartment, before heading out and shooting people.

If laws were for honest folks, we wouldn't need laws, therefore laws must be for dishonest folks.

I've always liked the drug comparison. Just ask your class if they "know anyone" who has ever smoked pot. If anyone says yes, act shocked and say, "but that's illegal in the United States! It's impossible to buy drugs, right?"

Mic drop optional.

Gun free zones work, but they're not being used properly. They only work if everyone going in is checked, and they shouldn't be used for anything else than ensuring the safety of a high profile target, like the president. They don't work in schools and shit, unless the country is gun free. Anyone intending harm can go in and harm people inside, but those who do intend to uphold and follow the law are unarmed.
>>
>>29981942
pretty sure luby's was not a gun free zone
