For the most part, hard shell cases are very space inefficient.
Long hard cases will also not fit in most small car trunks which may or not be a consideration for you.

If you do find a hard shell case that is of a good size and holds your accessories and guns, then they're great. iseries cases are nice. The long plano cases are not as nice, large pluck foam that's not as dense, and more clasps to make up for the flimsy plastic. In particular the clasp under the handle itself is annoying to use.

I've got one 2 hard shell cases that I don't even use now because the cheaper soft cases are actually better. The one hard case I do have an use is pic related.

Lastly, if you need replacement dense gray foam, Kaizen foam from Woodcrafters is where it's at.

The above pic is the pluck foam. After deciding to store a different gun in it, I re-glued the pluck foam back together in a new shape and got some automotive headliner fabric from JoAnn Fabrics to glue over the foam so it looked nicer. This worked well enough but this pic is after an Anon recommended the Kaizen foam.

>>

It's a pistol.
I'm actually surprised how little a stock seems to matter in with 5.56. You get a lot of accuracy out of the cheek weld and it seems to stay right on target as well as it would with a stock.
>>
Has anyone here ever thought about making a custom wooden case or something for a pistol?

I've been thinking about that a lot, lately.

I don't generally like using Pelican cases to transport guns to the range because the damn things are so big and heavy, but I will use a Pelican case when flying with guns because they have to be in a locked hard case in your luggage, and it doesn't get any more secure than a Pelican case. That said, you will ALWAYS be able to fit more guns, ammo and accessories into a hard case if you don't use the foam, and instead just use cloth soft cases around your guns, maybe throwing a towel in there to keep things from rattling around.

As for the kaizen foam shit, this is perhaps THE ONLY time I have taken advice from 4chan and it turned out well. It's like night and day compared to the flimsy pick n pluck shit that came with the case. It IS very time-consuming and messy to cut it out, and mine didn't want to come apart at its lamination seams very neatly at all, but the end result is about a thousand times better than what I had worked out with the pick n pluck foam before. Much more firm, much easier to cut and mold, and generally much more flexible in terms of what you can do with it.

>and generally much more flexible in terms of what you can do with it.
Example: I was able to get two layers of storage in this 1495 case. The top layer is for the disassembled gun and one magazine, and then the bottom layer was able to fit four more magazines simply because I had the leftover height in the uncut parts of the foam.

Here was what I had worked out with the pick n pluck foam. Ultimately, I could fit the gun and the same number of magazines into the case, but I had to reinforce many of the thinner sections of the foam with plastic lining, which looks ugly and still would be prone to breaking. It looks like shit, is less secure, and is a lot less durable than the results I got with the kaizen foam.

>>29978151
The Pelican Store website. Just google "kaizen" and your case model number. It should be in the first three results. Some of the newer cases don't have kaizen foam available yet.

Listen here Bubba. I spent forever and a day looking for a place that sold the replacement foam loacally and I didn't know about "Kaizen" foam at all.
Sure, there's several places to order foam online but I was determined to find it locally.
I went to hobby lobby, they have foam but it's green and not that dense.
I went to JoAnn Fabrics, nothing.
I went to Dodd camera, nothing.
I went to Field and Stream, nothing.
I went to Compu-whatever computers and shit, nothing.
I went to every gun store and range within 100 miles, nothing.
I went to Sear's, Ace Hardware, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hobby Store, Wal-Mart, Cabela's, Bass Pro Shop and even some weird ass general store that smelled funny, nothing.
Then one day, some anon posts that the foam is for sale at Woodcrafter's.

Woodcrafter's is national chain that's been around since 1928 and they're all over the damn place. If you haven't heard of them, then that sucks for you, they're a franchise in 34 different states and anon's recommendation helped me. I'm sharing the information too, it isn't all about you only you basement dwelling sheltered little self absorbed piece of shit faggot faced turd.

When I do a Google Maps search, there's only a handful of locations for this store. I can only count 11 states that have them, and many of those appear to be different companies like "Woodcrafter Galleries," "Woodcrafters of Virginia," "Woodcrafter.com." I've literally never even heard of them, but this is at least the third Pelican case thread where you have shilled for this company in the same sentence as talking about kaizen foam. In particular, posts like this >>29978212 are extremely annoying because not only is the information likely irrelevant, it's also repetitive, like email spam. If anon isn't in one of those 11 states where they have locations, then it isn't going to be useful at all.

The only online store called Woodcrafter or Woodcrafters with an inventory does NOT carry kaizen foam.

It is considered very unusual and worthy of teasing him for if he were in school, but still, it's within the realm of "acceptability" there. It would be like if, in America, somebody was really into drugs, and they grew dreadlocks even though they're white or asian, they always carried around weed, put up Bob Marley posters around their apartment, only listened to reggae music, laughed throughout movies like Half Baked and Cheech & Chong, and had lots of black friends. It's super weird and you'd feel uncomfortable if your daughter was friends with someone like that, but still, there's a place in society for these people outside of prisons, so there's that.

I think that they can be tracked even if turned off, though. I could take it a step further too... instead of just throwing the iphone into the case loosely, I bet I could fit it INSIDE the PS90's stock, so the fag wouldn't even know what hit him.

What are you confused about? The PS90 is just a fun firearm. I don't consider it a "go to war" type of gun, so why would I spend hundreds of dollars more on a C-More or an Aimpoint when this thing works fine for range fun? As for the FN reticle sights, they are as rare as unicorn ass hairs these days (my gun did not come with one), and are as expensive as an Aimpoint when you do find one, even though they're not as well made.
