Are warhammers o/k/?
>>
>>29974784
Historical warhammers were pretty great. Ones with comically large hammerheads aren't.

If you made the large hammerhead hollow, maybe.
>>
>>29974784
Pretty okay at busting open gates I guess

Use one of these if the urban youths in your area are making plate armour out of car metal and bins.
>>

would these be used with 1 or 2 hands, that looks like it'd be very uncomfortable to hold with a straight grip like that

Both one or two handed version have seen its fair share of battlefield.
It could be used on foot or on horse.
>it'd be very uncomfortable to hold with a straight grip like that
Almost every other polearms' handles are shaped like that.
>>
>>29974795
>If you made the large hammerhead hollow, maybe.
Then you're just spreading out the force instead of keeping it focused on a single point so it can break things efficiently. Jumbo hammer & axe heads are just all kinds of useless in a fight no matter what.

i think a haligan bar would make a damn good melee weapon.
pic related.
firefighters use it to bust open doors and put holes in roofs and shit.
I figure it would be pretty good for ventilating skulls and torsos, no?
>>
>>29974784
It's fucking brutal. If you are built like a powerlifter, can't own anything else, and have enough space to swing the thing, go for it. These things were made so castle trained knights and other beefy dudes could put a dent in steel armor in open field fighting.

It's a meme at this point. I guess it packs more heat than a baseball bat. If you want to own one for fun, go for it. Personally , I wouldn't trust my life or my family's life to it.
>>
>>29974803
The size you just posted is comparable to using a claw hammer, you can swing a hammer right?
>>
>>29975132
It's very heavy, on average 3x heavier than a greatsword
>>
>>29975197
People seemed to imagine medieval weapons to be more heavy than it actually is.
A one handed war hammer is basically the same weight as a one handed sword. Probably around 3 lbs.
But the point of balance is far out at the tip of the weapon.
Two handed war hammers are even lighter than long-swords.
To war hammer, it's all about the point of balance and acceleration. Not sheer weight.
>>
>>29975132
Most of the hooligan tools are a bit too heavy and around 4-6kg, swing one around for a while and you'll sure know its there.
Handy though for everything else.

People also think armour was way heavier for some reason

Wearing both+clothing+weapons already over 100 lbs....

Sure, rucking around with my 40lb pack, and carrier, and a 8lb rifle aren't bad.....
But fuck that.

Lol full armour in late middle ages was 33-55 pounds. They wore even less weight with a full pack then modern infantry.

>People also think armour was way heavier for some reason
People think that if you fell off your horse, or fell down you couldn't get back up
>over 100lbs
That's fucking bullshit, it probably weighed about 60-70lb total, and you didn't wear your armor when you hiked everywhere either

It is not, THAT heavy

>>30lbs for Chain under plate (aluminum rings)

And funnily enough, the habit of wearing a full hauberk underneath what's basically full plate didn't last long.
>>
>>29975948
also this >>29976022
You wore chain to cover the gaps that your plate didn't cover, you did not wear full gambeson, then full chain hosen and hauberk, then plate

Even the ones that weight more than a military backpacks are more comfy to wear, because you wear the weight distributed in all of your body, not just in the back. You maintain the balance, and the weight don't slow dow you or tire out a lot ebcause it is distributed.

i use on e for getting jacked because knights only buy from rogue
>>
That Sisu hammer is an exercise tool, the head is hollow so you can add sand to increase and decrease weight while hammering tires. It's not really a warhammer.

A modern equivalent would be a demolition hammer, like the Stanley Fubar. Although you'd get about the same amount of utility out of a tomahawk or crash ax like the Ontario SPAX for general inna-woodsing.

those looks like a one handed warhammer.

the main difference between a two and one handed warhammer is really just the length of the pole. The hammer head is going to be the same size.

>>29978918
one of the biggest reason full plate is expensive is because it needs to be custom tailored for full mobility.

late medieval (~1450) period actually had the technology to make solid plate en mass, but the tailoring isn't something you can mass product.

this is why arsenal plate usually only cover the torso, it's easier to make a "loose fit" with a chestplate.
>>
>>29975948
>>65 lbs for plate (modern reproduction)
>> Not heavy
That's not, like at all. There's a big difference between 65 pounds of metal spread all over your body and a 65 pound backpack.

>full chain under plate
>aluminium rings
lol no, and what the fuck do you mean aluminium rings? If you're going to make them out of something that soft, you might as well not bother.

>>
>>29985045
>hardened to 65-70 on the rockwell scale
On the B scale you retarded fuck. You do know there's 3 different Rockwell scales right? And 70 Rockwell B is fucking nothing.
Besides that, it's not like they could have made aluminium chainmail in medieval times anyway.
