I never said you should condone the culture of others if it is repugnant to you. Southern Redneck culture is an honor culture, where strength, bravery and independance are valued in men and modesty and caring are valued in women. However, there are values that cross both genders that are valued in the South, they are politeness, honor, charity and self-dependance.
Being from the UK and living in Texas for last decade I think I comment quite well on the average Southern family and I believe the above is quite accurate.
What desert tribesman do to punish their women is indeed horrific but what do you expect from a culture that has not progressed since the publication of one book about two thousand years ago? Does not say much, the South of the United States have a book they hold dear, indeed the Bible does play a big part in the life of the average Baptist or Catholic but it has not prevented their culture from progressing.

You've seen southern culture, not redneck culture. I lived in rural Alabama for 7 (my father was a lineman and his company sent him out there) years and I literally hated my life. Everyone treated me like shit because I was a European immigrant who associated with colored people.
In that part of the state segregation was a thing in all but law. The little amount of blacks lived on different streets than whites and went to a tiny school apart.

just got it recently, good thing I came upon this thread.

Of course it is not lethal, because it is used as medical treatment for e.g. poisoning, but still is administered in health care. It is still not advised to use the filters, as the case is made with a percentage of lead which slowerly degrades into the filter, along with many other chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
Good thing I havent tried using it with the filter on.. wew
