What's /k/'s opinion on hat guns for EDC?

Thinking of a home build for pic related with Top Gun printed on it. It's a joke because the helmet kinda looks like a top hat and also there's a meme with that guy from workaholics doing an incredulous face.

It's comfy so long as your handgun doesn't have a beaver tail. So for striker fired handguns it's a best. Or ones with hidden hammers.

Sure if you're a retard that run afoul of a telekinetic that decides to bypass all the safeties of a modern firearm to discharge it in its holster

Best way to carry ignore these retards saying
>dude, you'll shoot your dick off bro
>dude you're gonna die if it goes off man

Proper td, a good holster that won't collapse is all you need. If you're squeamish about it which is understandable, you can use something with an extra safety like an xd or a double action handgun.

I'm deathly afraid of bleeding out from something puncturing my arteries but that doesn't stop me from wanting to appendix carry.
>>
On the pro side:

great concealability across sizes from sub compact to compacts, good draw position, good range of carry options, good retention

cons:
can be uncomfortable, draw can be impeded based on body position and clothing

i carry aiwb. read more about it. try it.

ymmv.
>>
I had my appendix taken out so I can't do it anymore.
>>
>>29944554
>draw can be impeded based on body position and clothing

appendix is the fastest way to draw from sitting or standing.
>>
Its good.

With a solid quality holster, there is no need to worry about shooting one's dick off so that's a non-issue.

Depending on the size of the firearm, it can be very comfortable or a nuisance.

Pros:
Better access compared to six o'clock carry while sitting down
Faster draw than six o'clock carry
Conceals better than six o'clock carry
Don't have to worry about showing or printing while bending over/crouching

Cons:
Can get uncomfortable after sitting down for a while
If the firearm is large, the barrel can dig into your leg once again affecting comfort while sitting.
Can get in the way while trying to take a piss
Can get in the way while trying to bend over / crouch

All that being said, I usually do appendix carry. I will alternate depending on the situation and how I feel like carrying at that particular moment. No single type of carry will be the absolute best. Like anything in life there are tradeoffs. Depending on the circumstances appendix carry might not be the best type at that particular moment.
>>
>>29944575
tbqh, it's healthier for you to squat instead of bend over to pick something up
>>
>>29944608
I do squat, I am quite /fit/ famalam. However I wasn't assuming that everyone else does as I do. Generally people tend to bend over rather than squat.

Either way. Bending over/crouching/squatting the pistol can get in the way and affect comfort.

It doesn't bother me, I just readjust the firearm a little and I'm gtg

I never said the practice caused a lot of dicks to be shot. There is the 4 safety rules. Rule # 5 should be "don't point a gun at your dick".

If you gotta waist carry tuck it behind in your ass. At the worst put a scar in your ass fat. Or continue I really don't care, I don't think you should procreate so shoot your dick.
>>
>>29942740
Or you can just not be fat and sit with decent posture and beaver tails aren't a problem.
>>
I see some people carry directly on their centerline, but the combo of belt buckle, holster clips and muzzle directly in dick zone bothers me.

I am left handed and have my gun to right of my dick by a couple inches. That way it can be angled a bit more comfortably for sitting, not be rubbing on me while walking, and if it goes off I die because femoral artery but at least I have my dick. Also, it's a kydex holster so I am not worried about it going off.
>>
Carry any way you want, it's just personal preference.

Unless you carry 6 o'clock or ankle carry, then you're a faggot.

>>29944646
I use a Sticky holster. Its friction based, which allows me to adjust it infinitely but at the cost of having less retention.

I know that people say to stay away from softshell holsters especially when carrying a firearm with no external safety but I have tested it various times and I have simply not been able to get my firearm to fire while being holstered. I am very comfortable with it and have no fear of any ND/ADs.

I'm waiting for my aliengear holster to get in because on some days I would like to have more retention, particularly when I am going to be very active that day.

not when youre innacar w/ seatbelt on, at least in my case.
>>
>>29944770
Not the guy you're replying to...

Let me get this straight... You carry your firearm with the mentality that you are going to accidentally fire it while holstered eventually? Did I get that right?

So because of your inability to properly carry a firearm you compensate by willingly accepting the possibility of shooting your ass? Instead of removing the possibility of such thing by being cognizant of proper re-holstering and carrying procedures?

Have you ever thought about actually carrying a firearm like a responsible adult instead of like a child with an irrational mentality to carrying a loaded firearm?

I think you got your priorities a little fucked up, sir.
>>
>>29945027
I stopped reading because you made too many assumptions.

I don't CC there isn't any need where I live. I sometimes pack a Kahr 380 in my pocket when I am walking around. Because.
>>
>>29944658
Sometimes.

One of the reasons that these threads are retarded is that people don't understand that there's no "Best".

Each carry method has advantages and disadvantages, much like choice in firearm or ammunition load.

Shoulder carry has specific conditions and situations where it does make sense, specifically those where the carrier is frequently in a seated position when exposed to threats. It is typically a slower draw and can cause issues with retention and draw in combatives, as compared to other carry positions.

For open carry, and concealed carry, if your a bigger guy (which, if we quit lying to ourselves, most /K/ommandos are) I find the 3/4 o'clock position to be the best for comfort and draw. For those without a beer gut, I can definitely see the appeal of appendix carry. Less likely to print, very easy draw, and with a pocket gun like an lcp, it's surprisingly comfortable.

All that said, my personal favorite carry style is 5 o'clock reverse draw. My grandpa was a trick shooter at rodeo shows when he was younger, and carried his revolver like that for years until his arthritis got the better of him.
>>
>>29944956
Try placing your seatbelt under your cover garment and across your belt, and then just laying the cover garment over the top of the seatbelt.

Skip to 1:04, ignore everything after 1:30. I've also seen this technique in Kyle Lamb's vehicle tactics DVD.
