gen 2 G22's had poor chamber support, so when people put hot .40S&W in them, they would blow up. That was fixed for gen 3, and other models weren't affected by it.

>>

They are issued them, but most don't take them. Look at SWAT, they always get to choose their own equipment, and overwhelmingly choose H&K, sometimes Sig, and very rarely the laughingstock of the unit has a Glock.
>>
>>29923657
idk much about swat but navy seals have used P226 since the 80s. and actually most of the seals are choosing the glock over the p226 due to the fact that it is over half a pound lighter than the sig and when you are dismounted for 30 miles every pound makes a difference and its a secondary weapon no need to be carrying a heavy ass side arm.
>>

That's patently incorrect.

Glocks do weigh slightly less but are prone to malfunctions, can't handle consistent hot loads, and are much, much more flimsy. The slides are particularly bad, being a mass-produced metal lego-block that is of a lesser quality than almost every other manufacturer's metal. They are also completely unsafe, as anything that brushes the trigger will set it off. One of the advantages of having DA/SA is not having to worry about this. Most military forces are trying to find ways to swap their glocks for anything else.

But they are slightly lighter and hold a couple more rounds than competitor's handguns. Guess they are God's gift to earth.

>>29923825

That worked for LE because they have no physical standards and never use their guns besides shooting the occasional black man, but the military doesn't need to shave off a few ounces on something that's vital to their survival.

>>
>>29923929

It couldn't be huge corruption among the gov and manufacturers, could it? That never happens with weapons contracts.

>>
>>29923941
You are right, that glocks are reliable is made up by the government, so that they can save millions by not buying good handguns and supporting our ecomony or something ... Also they try to bring US people to buy glawks so when they take over none of our guns will be able to fire. I had a Cousin and he bought a Glock, that thing couldn't even fire a whole magazine without a malfunction and after two weeks of use it exploded like every glock
>>
>>29923975

1. Glock produced a .40 caliber pistol that was prone to violent explosions. They sold this pistol and people were hurt. The design of the feed ramp on all glocks is also an inherent weakpoint. Iguess that's ok if your's hasn't exploded yet.

2. Not an argument.

3. Not an argument.

4. So when I'm in the brush, like a Navy seal will do, and a branch gets in my holster and slightly brushes the trigger on my lego man-killer and now I have a nice 9mm sized hole in my foot, should I keep using my glock?

I can do this all day. Haven't even talked about the ergonomics or reliability issues yet.

>>29924001

Not an argument.

Not a single defender of this sub-par pistol can come up with a real argument to any of the points I've mentioned. It looks cool and people tell you it's fool-proof, and you don't really trust yourself yet with a gun, so you get a glock and have to defend your purchase any way you can. You're also too poor to afford a decent gun and must let everyone know.

that gave me a good laugh. and the 19 actually holds the same amount of rounds as the p226 (15)

> and are much, much more flimsy

idk about you guys but my Glock doesn't bend in the wind. and other metal framed guns are way more prone to rusting and are way harder to disassemble (Not field Strip) disassemble one dip in the ocean and your gun needs to be complacently taken apart if i had to swim with a gun i would way rather do it with a glock

That's wrong, though. The "chamber support" has not changed. A member of my family had his Gen 3 Glock 21 blow up on him. Also look at this picture. Plenty of Gen 3s and plenty of non-.40s.
>>
>>29927157
>A member of my family had his Gen 3 Glock 21 blow up on him.

All on its own, with factory ammo that was neither a squib or double/no charge, I'm sure.
>>
>>29927106
I guess. Just speaks to the low quality. Glocks just ooze disposable, like one-time-use pieces of shit. I understand people have shot thousands of rounds through Glocks but... they are just such lowest-common-denominator to me. I just don't like them, for lots of other reasons too.

Oh I'm nearly 100% sure it was out of spec ammo. They were hand loads.

But to give some context, the same guy who loaded those rounds had another blow up in his 1911 (timetostopreloading.jpg, I know) and he literally just field stripped it and pulled the brass out and it worked just fine.

And how do you know they were the same charge? Maybe if you shot that one out of the 1911 it would be now wrecked and the Glock would blow the mag out at the worst. And maybe not.
I've seen dumb ass reloaders blow the shit out of a Super Redhawk so that the frame formed a nice O, that doesn't mean it's a weak design.

>timetostopreloading.jpg

Oh yeah, definitely. I'd stay away from him at the range.
>>
>>29927343
A fair point. Well taken. It could also have been a good, well-loaded charge, but overused brass. So the charge wasn't too much for the gun to handle but the brass blew up everywhere.

Just seems to be more of a problem with the polymer guns.

There are other reasons I'm not a huge fan of polymer. Sure it can work if you really want it to, you can work with training to rip out mags that won't drop free and be extra careful and methodical when hanging a weaponlight on it etc. etc., just not something I want to bother with. Just not worth it to have an uncomfortable gun with a shitty trigger.
>>
>>29927433
>but overused bras

Nah, that is something very hard to do with pistol brass. Bordering on impossible with a low pressure round like .45
And when it finally happens, it'll show as a cracked neck long before the integrity of the rest of the case is compromised.
