first batch and prototypes were stamped, but manufacturing processes were not perfected, so first batch shit itself, they went to milled recievers as a temporary solution while they developed better stamped ones.

I just use ak optics and a brass deflector. It works well enough, but I still use irons most of the time even at longer ranges because I value weight savings over optics.

I had almost forgotten that Vz 58 ejects up instead of to the side, in that case a deflector is a must with optics

It also depends a bit on ammo brand too, golden tiger ejects very gently more forward than upward and may not cause a big problem. Something like bear ammo knocks the bolt back so hard that I won't even allow it to touch my vz. I feel like it'll wear my gun out faster, on top of it just not shooting as well for me. Without optics, I might not have noticed so much. Either way, it was a fluke that I bought bear ammo since I normally only touch golden tiger anyway.
I've also heard of people grinding their ejector a bit so that the vz ejects more sideways than it normally would. I think it's a cheap and easy enough to replace part if you happened to screw it up.
