Can somebody explain to me why the polish and Portuguese special forces use the DE?
I get that it's really cool in movies and videogames because it's huge and loud, but I'd have thought that special forces would prefer something lighter, more accurate with less recoil and a larger mag. Something that could handle a flashlight for you so that you don't break your wrist on the first shot.

Not enough for you? They are accurate, definitely, and the .50 AE is the second most powerful handgun round. It can be used for almost the same things a Barrett .50 BMG rifle can... Taking out engine blocks, shooting through walls, guaranteed one shot kills, etc. Granted, something a little smaller with a lighter caliber would mean more rounds in the mag and probably a little more efficient, the Deagle still isn't a bad choice. It's expensive but I'm sure law enforcement/special forces get discounts and it's about the same price as any other decent mid to high caliber semi-auto tactical pistol.

The Desert Eagle was created to test the feasibility of gas operated magnum pistols. It's literally a research gun.
It was designed to be recognizable and cool looking, to make it a noticeable brand. Kinda like the SPAS-12, it was also designed to be easily recognisable and unique.
It can play a role in psychological warfare as well as conventional.
But honestly, my opinion is a .50AE 1911 would be better.

Say it pretty well. It's the culmination of research into automatic magnum pistols. Aside from the Auto Mag's corp attempts with their Automag pistol, it pretty much is the best remaining common magnum caliber pistol you can get these days. Is it a perfect pistol? Hell no
-It weighs 5lbs unloaded
-It's loud as hell, particularly with a muzzle brake attached
-Kinda fiddly with the ammo, only likes certain types
-Won't feed lead bullets (unjacketed) without fucking up the gas system)
That said, it's accurate as hell, it's a great backup weapon for hunting, it's the only really commercially available magnum pistol that's not a revolver, and frankly it's cool as hell which is enough of a reason to own one.

I'm a felon. I just know that hard cast lead doesn't foul anything like regular soft lead. It's well known for that, people use it specifically for those reasons.
Go on youtube and search "Hickok45 hard cast lead". The boss himself will show you the difference and you'll be blown away.
You'll still have to clean it out mind you, but it won't be anything like regular lead. It barely fouls.
Relatively low recoil for whatever caliber it's chambered in thanks to being fuckhuge and heavy. Also makes for an excellent club when you run out of ammo. Plus it's just fucking intimidating-looking, wouldn't you agree?
