My manurhin Mr73 from classic showed up today. Bretty damned nice. I love the action. Little bit of barrel and cylinder holster wear but nothing like classic advertised. I'd call the finish 90% or better.

How do the triggers compare? I'm curious about others who bought these, very hesitant to buy from classic afrer seeinf some horrific examples
>>
>>29905122
wow thats a lot better condition than i thought they were going to be. probably hasnt been in GIGN hands to take out terrorists then
>>
>>29905122

Fuck, I'm peanut butter and jealous.

Didn't pick one up because I listened to the fags over at r/guns who said they'd be all rusty and fucked to hell.

Should've known better than to listen to leddit faggots I suppose. They probably just wanted to discourage people from ordering them due to extreme Jewishness
>>
>>29905122
it just looks like minor surface corrosion from age, nothing terrible. im sure it works great, super jelly here. hows the trigger faggot? you havent mentioned the trigger at all!>>29905663
>>
>>29905667
Its been parkerized. Apparently it's a common thing that they did after the blue wore off. So it probably actually spent a lot of time out in the world.

>>29905663
The trigger on the frog gun is butter. Da is heavier (I put a wolff spring kit in my smiff so it's a lot lighter) but smoother than the 686. Curious about adjusting it in the mr73...

What's the largest .357 revolver that can be reasonably concealed?

This just landed.

New .44 mag vaquero with birdshead grips built on a superblackhawk frame. Pumped as FUCK.
>>
>>29906909
is that an XS front sight on the little 442 ? if not what sight is it? i really like that
>>
>>29907073
you trying to be the fastest gun in the west?

do you use the top one for hunting? i like long barreled revolvers but cant really seem to justify a use for them, i suppose if i hunted it would make sense but man that little stainless steel vaquero is badass, i would be swinging that thing around my index finger all day before tucking it into my holster
>>
>>29907435
It is, comes stock on the 340. I would never own a .38spl like the 442, although 60% of my range time on wheel guns is spent using .38... A straight up .38 just feels limited.
>>
>>29907461
I stand semi corrected I guess the 442 comes in .357 as well. Oh well 340 master race.
>>
>>29907461
that makes a lot of sense man, i want to get a snubby for ccw and actually never thought of getting a 357 version. are the frames on yours heavier than the 38spc version? how bad is the recoil with magnum vs +P 38spc? i have shot defense +P 38s out of a 442 before and while doable, its not exactly fun to shoot
>>
>>29907511
>>29907482
i also kind of wrote off 357 in a snubby a while back because i thought without the barrel length it was basically a 38, but lately i have done more research and it seems 357 does still have a decent amount more power than a 38 out of a snubnose, even if its not huge, it is somewhat substantial
>>
>>29907073
Lovely. Now put target sights on it.

My gp100 from an old atf.

I had my smith. ( wheel gun junky) work his magic. Wolf springs, stoned/polished, shimmed.

>>
>>29907511
The .38vs .357 model of the mini Js I think weigh the same, the weight difference is in the barrel, and it isn't much.

Honestly everything besides standard .38 feels like a lot of recoil, with the exception of LeveRevolution 140grFTX. That feels like a jackhammer being propelled by a rocket took a shit in your palm.
>>
>>29907603
do you carry 357s for defense then? or go with 38s?
>>
>>29907737

Go for .38s honestly. Follow up shots will prove cleaner. If you're busting out a wheelgun you obviously don't care TOO MUCH for ballistics/terminal performance/technology (or you would CC a decent semi auto) if you're CCing a wheelgun you probably think like so "It's going to go bang, guaranteed, and if it doesn't I'll squeeze again."

If that sounds like you, then why does it matter if it's 700FPS or 1200FPS? It's going to put a .356-7 sized hole in the bad guy. Hopefully twice.

Any body still shoot .45 lC?

I was thinking of getting a Ruger Red Hawk that can shoot booth .45LC and .45 ACP with moon clips.

I know leigh defense makes those extreme penetrator .45 colts for those govenor/judge .45 colt/.410 bore shot shells but can you use the Extreme Penetrators in normal revolvers like a Ruger Red Hawk or Colt single action army?

word. i would mostly want one for casual summer carry and also as a secondary backup for my regular glock19 carry
>>
>>29906909
I mean obviously I would have rather had a deep blue. But this is a correct refinish for the gun by police and military agencies that carried them, still has some holster wear for character and it looks good and should be durable. It isn't just bubbas duracoat.

I am glad it has this rather than a bunch of naked steel and pending rust because it had no finish.
>>
>>29908564

Fuuuuuck thats hot....
>>
>>29909906

I'm unaware of correct/incorrect. The bluing in the low spots of my MR73 are sooooo deep pearly blue. I'm thinking I'm going to ruin the collectors value and this may be my first gun that goes off to a smith. Potato pic to follow.

Yeah see I mean blue is gorgeous but I would likely trade a finish like yours for the parkerize job. It isn't how mulhouse doing or chapuis or whatever sent it out, but is a refinish that agencies did when the blue was shot.

But if I'd gotten one like yours, I fully intended to have it reblued. May try to grab one of those last few classic has when they come back up.

Neato. Like I said, I replaced the main and hammer springs in my Smith but I cinched the screw down, mostly because I didn't want it poking out or shaking loose. Plus I dont think they were designed as adjustments in the s&w. But I will fiddle with my froggy gun tonight. Thanks anon.
>>
>>29912188

How bad of a ruin-on-investment will it be if I tell a smith to "Blue, then polish it until it's so dark it looks like the phone you would use to talk to satan."?
>>
Throwing in with my CAI import (blued) and commercial one (Gendarmerie model I think?) I'm not in a huge hurry to refinish the worn surplus one but if I did I think I'd like to try a bronze looking finish like titanium carbon nitride.

>>29912386
I agree the surplus wood grips are too narrow at the thumb web. It starts to sting after a while. I've never shot with the rubber Trausch grips but I love this design from Karl Nill.>>29912430

Pretty bad. Best do the polishing before the bluing if you want any bluing at all.

What are the popular .357 spin-shooters in the $600~ range?
>>
>>29912430
See my thought is, if the blued finish is shot, and the real appeal to these is the awesome action/accuracy and huge reliability, I think it is owed a nice deep blue as close to factory as you can get. I'd be surprised if a nice bluing job could hurt the value, unless it was the gign entry gun from the hijacking or something.

So um I messed with the spring tensions. Super easy. One on a hex key on just on a flat screwdriver. Amazing. You kind of play a balance; turn the trigger too far down and leave the hammer tensioner then the trigger won't reset. So the most important thing will be consistent primer pops. Once I find that ill mess with the trigger tension. But I turned it down some and already much easier to hold steady in da.

Still very impressed.

Oh and make sure your hand isn't in the way of the hammer when your test the trigger pull. Skin is softer than a primer...
