It happens a lot dove hunting. I've never had someone intentionally fire at me (which I think the other guy meant), but I've had birdshot hit me by accident more times than I care to count. When it's an accident, it doesn't hurt unless they hit exposed skin. Even then, it hurts like a bug bite and maybe leave a welt
