He's got the idea. It is not a multi-purpose and/or survival knife. Thing was created with one purpose in mind and that was killing, it's also not that good for stabbing and was more used in stable position and pulling target onto the knife vs thrusting into them.

>businessman navigated the business world in a way that was beneficial to himself

you know that the vast majority of businesses fail, right?

In order to be successful as an entrepreneur you have to first take on a lot of risks and even for the best business people ventures more often flop than succeed.

People like Bernie Sanders and Karl Marx paint your ignorant picture of what buisness people do because they never worked real jobs in their entire lives.

It is a killing knife. It is meant for a single thing, killing humans. However, 99.99 percent of even the most elite third elchelon black ops OPER8ORS operating operationally in areas of the world where their home country would disavow any knowledge of their existence will do their killing with a fucking gun.

Better to get a knife that can actually do some utility work as well as being a sharp piece of metal that can pierce squishy people.

See, this is why its a meme knife just like karambits and katana "no knife is deadlier"

The f/s had distinct flaws that were recognized by the people who were actually using them, the tip was fragile, the tang junction weak, the handle was slick and it didn't orient the edge. The kabar and mk3 trench knife were among the most popular knives in the war for special forces, the mk3 went over like gangbusters with airborne and elite soldiers in the US, with everyone in this Italian theatre and the SAS, they also loved kabars

If you want to see a better dagger look at the Applegate fairbairn knife, it took everything that was good about the f/s and got rid of most of the weaknesses, its definitely one of the most well designed daggers on the market right now

Katanas are a meme, because they were objectively poorly made swords. They were 2000 years late to the whole folding and hammering metal and they never improved the design. Karambits are a meme because they're poorly designed and look cool, so kids go ape shit over them. The Sykes was designed solely to kill people, but was inadequately constructed. It's just a dagger with a few tweaks. That doesn't make it a meme. There aren't any inherent flaws with the design of the knife.
>>
Well if you want a knife for anything other than shanking sentries, there are undoubtedly better options.
But for shanking sentries it worked just fine back in the day, so there's no reason to assume it wouldn't now.

Question:
Why using stabbing specialized weapon when medieval armor faded away centuries ago
>>
>>29886150

America's aint looking too good either when it comes to building a wall that size and length, and staffing it, and maintaining it when the current system is probaly going to be 95% as effective anyway.

Sure they could do it. But it'd be a tremendous waste of money thats desperately needed elsewhere.
>>
>>29887915
No, Israel-Palestinian border is. Cause technically they're not at war even though everybody is just standing on opposite sides of the border screaming "fuck u fight me irl bro"
>>
>>29888931

Because slashing skin/muscle doesn't kill, /k/ommando, piercing organs does.
>>
>>29889001
But slashing muscle/tendons at joints can incapacitate just as quickly. Or you can always slash to the windpipe, carotid artery, brachial artery, or jugular vein since all of those are soft spots and relatively easy to get at with a slashing weapon.
>>
>>29889014
You can still slash with a dagger. The dagger just performs both. Stabbing is still more deadly.
>>
>>29889033
Just as you can penetrate with a normal bayonet.
>>
>>29888876

"were objectively poorly made swords"

I understand you take pride in being an uneducated edgelord with elitist opinions, but let me rain on your parade a bit. Without going into petty opinionated details about how you are just ignorant about the physics behind the bladeshape, I can say that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the superiority of japans historical forging process compared to the rest of the world at the time.

They made way better steel that was stronger, and more flexible. You can bitch and moan all you want about weaboos and how you don't like the blade shape of a katana, but when it comes to their forging process, the quality of their steel, and the quality of the finished product that was feudal era sword making, you have no fucking idea what you are talking about.
>>
>>29889051
I found the weeaboo.

Educate yourself about medieval European and Celtic swords, or keep praising your Japanese meme sword.
>>
>>29889070

>let 4 businesses go bankrupt

>>

>Japanese steel
>Quality

I raffed.
>>
>>29889070
And as someone who actually is educated about such topics, and who has seen their forging process first hand, as well as the japanese forging process, I can tell you as an Engineer that japan had superior quality steel. The icelandic and especially more western euro countries suffered from impurities in their steel, brittleness, and poor edge retention due to attempts at what you might call 'mass production' and 'lazy' forging habits.

Japan had a greater understanding of how to treat metals during the forging process than their European counterparts and generally spent more time on one weapon than a typical euro blacksmith would spend on 3 blades.
>>
>>29889102
>Spending more time makes it good.

Folding steel is shit. Europeans did it first, but moved on to better things because they didn't have shit iron deposits. The Japanese continued doing it because they just could not make better metal with what they had available on their little island.

>A knife (plural knives) is a tool with a cutting edge or blade, hand-held or otherwise, with most having a handle. Some types of knives are used as utensils, including knives used at the dining table (e.g., butter knives and steak knives) and knives used in the kitchen (e.g., paring knife, bread knife, cleaver). Many types of knives are used as tools, such as the utility knife carried by soldiers, the pocket knife carried by hikers and the hunting knife used by hunters. Knives are also used as a traditional or religious implement, such as the kirpan. Some types of knives are used as weapons, such as the daggers used by commandos or the switchblades used by 1950s-era criminal gang members. Some types of knives are used as sports equipment (e.g., throwing knives). Knives are also used in agriculture, food harvesting etc, the sickle, the scythe and even the combine harvester are knives.
>Some types of knives are used as weapons, such as the daggers
>A Khanjali (Adyghe: Къaмэ,Georgian: ხანჯალი or Kinzhal when translating the Russian Кинжaл) is a double-edged dagger often with a single off-set groove on each face of the blade, and a secondary weapon used in Georgia and the Caucasus since ancient times.

Um.... Not if your looking for a battle proven fighting knife. Look it's simple:
>"meme" anything means there's a gimmick or joke attached
>Fairbairn Sykes, designed by guys who knew what they were doing from training and experience. It's no frills, no gimmicks
>is it effective?
Yes. It does what it was designed to do. Make people bleed by inserting the pointy end into the other guy.
>is this proven?
Yes. It had a track record of reliably making people bleed by putting the pointy end in the other guy.
>is it a "special edition", customized, or somehow improved over the original?
Nope. They all work the same way. Pointy end goes into the other guy.
>is it popular because it's endorsed by a celebrity/ "used by operators"/ preferred by ninjas?
Nope. It's popular cause it works. Pointy end goes into the other guy. Guy bleeds.

You see the pattern?

>>29889070
>>29889051
Both the jap steel is shit and jap steel is great people are retarded. European swords were not always perfect glorious monosteel, and Japanese swords weren't terrible pieces of shit.

It was a laborious process to extract and work iron in Japan. This is true. This lower quality did not extend to the finished product, however. The folding and working resulted in steel of comparable quality to many European weapons, albeit requiring more effort.

A katana is just a sword. It isn't a piece of shit, it isn't a god weapon, it's just a fucking sword. It was useful for killing people in its intended use as a sidearm, and has some good aspects and some bad aspects compared to European and other weapons that came about as the result of the conditions it was made and used in.

Stop dickwaving about it.
