Looking for a "low profile" 22 bolt-action rifle:
>clean barrel with no sights or extras
>small trigger pack
>short lug (is that what it's called) that hold the action to the stock
>single-shot preferred but mags are fine as long as it doesn't require an extended well

Does something like this exist in cheap new form or am I stuck with used rifles?

Image related, someone's homebrew 22.

You could mod a crickett .22 maybe?

Do they have detachable barrels? I've only come across those in 16.x" barrel length. Guess I forgot to add ~20" barrel length to OP.

Savage sells single-shot actions that might be what you are looking for.

Pretty sure Marlin makes this

>20 inch 22

Yeah not happening
Also fucking pointless

seems like 16-18 is the max useful barrel length and it depends on the ammo being used

OP is a fag

Thanks, will look into. I've come across Marlins in my initial search but they all seemed to be older/used variety. Not that that's bad but it does make it harder to get one.

>16-18" best length
Noted. Only brought it up because I was looking through the inventory of a local dealer and it had the 16" Crickett up to 21" Savage MKII.

Their 17 HMRs are no sights style

You need a chiappa little badger
22lr or 17hmr
>>
>>29882777
So since no one else asked, what the fuck does it matter that your gun will be all of .2 inches thinner than normal?
And if you have no sights, you'll need an optic, which will bring the gun much taller than irons

Cricket
Savage mk1
A few other youth rifles

>what is chiappa badger?

It's like you've never heard of this magical search engine called "google"...

I didn't mean low profile as in .2" thinner, I meant the most plainly cylindrical barrel and action so I can put it in an umbrella stock

I choose 22 because of the low recoil and more importantly it's cheap to shoot because I'm building a novelty item. At .22/bullet I may as well go 223 but that's too much bullet.

Also I did run across the badger but the break open action is far too bulky for what I'm looking for. If they had a single-shot bolt action version of the badger (but kept the 4 sided rails) it would be absolutely perfect.
