shoots great. very accurate, never had a malfunction with any ammo.
the safety was pretty stiff when I first got it. I took it apart, figured out how it worked, and found a bur on the edge of the safety that contacts the sear. I stropped that down and took out the magazine disconnect and it's pretty much perfect.

I wasn't a fan of any wondernines I shot or handled for several years after getting into guns. double stack grips were too fat, triggers too long or heavy or squishy, plastic or aluminum frames too top heavy. the Hi Power was the first nine I actually liked enough to buy and keep.

It's a Mossberg 500AT, 20" Barrel and 8+1 tube. ATI Heat Shield.

Bought it with the wood stock and fore-end on Gunbroker about a year ago now. Need to replace the trigger group and housing because it has an issue of not automatically unlocking the slide when you fire it sometimes.

I'm thinking about picking up an inexpensive loaner gun that I could loan out to extended family members and not worry about getting a scratch on an immediate family member (pic related).

I'm thinking about a Ruger P89, or maybe a P85MkII. Anybody prefer one over the other, or else can suggest another gun in the same ~$250 price range that might fit my collection a little better? Loaner gun though it may be, the slide-mounted safety/decocker of the Rugers would not fit with the other themes of my collection.

No idea to be honest. Do you have a recommendations? Irons I'd prefer to be under $50 or an optic under $160

You have pretty expensive tastes, tbqh. You might be able to find a beat up FEG Hi Power for that much, or if you get lucky, something like a Sig P250 or Walther PPX might sell that low if the seller is in desperate need of money. Nothing wrong with the Ruger, but nothing particularly great about it either.

in terms of handguns, the Rhino (despite being a meme gun) is just a kick in the pants.

for Full Size Handgun, the M92 (AK Pistol) is a blast. Just got the AOW a year ago, taken it out a few times and from the get go it's been just a hoot. Just got the vent rib barrel for it a couple of days ago. Concerned there might be a crack or bulge in it though...

Like Dugan from Carnik Con said, "it costs about the same as .45 ACP, but it's way cooler."

No, it would not be most people's first choice caliber for a rifle, or a pistol for that matter, but the PS90, even as a semi-auto, non-SBR, makes a lot of sense for home defense.

Well, 90% of the rollmarks, proofmarks and Waffenamts were rusted off, THEN ground off during a rather crude restoration. Research tells me it's a Nazi-occupied FN mfg "WaA 140", an early model with no stock slot (sadly). I love the sight, but my barrel is pretty shot out. It's also starting to have extraction issues, so I might have to replace that, too.

Whoever "restored" it had to restamp the SN, and you can still see the old stamps. There's also an A under the barrel, and 43 on the frame, no clue on those. Proofmark and year?

And SN.

Also, the magazine disconnect pin is permanently attached. I wouldn't want to change it, though. People shit on the HP trigger, but mine feels perfect for a single-action. The grit before the break usually comes from the finish on magazines, some very fine grit sandpaper where the mag safety rubs makes for a smoother pull.

I don't have any experience with the surplus ones. mine's a commercial one from '82 I picked up in 2013 for $680. I was keeping an eye on several similar listings for a friend and they were all going around $650-750 at the time. far less than MSRP for a new one but still more than the surplus ones on the market now.

as for parts replacement springs are always a concern especially with vintage guns. >>29884220 mentioned extraction issues and barrel wear.
I guess if you can't inspect before you buy maybe shop from a place with an inspection period, return or exchange policy.

Started out buying surplus, police trade-ins, cheap pawn shop guns. Realized I didn't want those guns, and sold them. This is what I bought with the money. Saving up $2000 to buy more. Hopefully Trump with nullify the NFA.

Thanks! I've heard the newer ones are garbage, but mine are both older guns. The one with a folding stock is early production Express, my main 870 is a pretty old wingmaster. Both function really well. My AOW is a factory police magnum AOW receiver, recent production (functions flawlessly). The spray-camo one is a chinese 870 knockoff that I've had literally zero issues with, despite painting it twice. I might just be lucky

what he said

>>29891442
Hi Powers are awesome.
any time someone asks for first revolver recommendations I answer this:

an ideal first revolver is a medium frame .357 Magnum with a 4" barrel and adjustable sights, made by S&W or Ruger.
.357 is powerful but manageable, great for self defense.
.357 Magnum revolvers can also chamber and shoot the cheaper and even more abundant .38 Special ammunition.
a 4" barrel is well balanced in the hand and gives much better ballistics and sight radius than a snubnose, and is still easy to carry IWB, OWB, or in a horizontal or vertical shoulder rig.
a medium sized frame will soak up the recoil well, without being heavy to carry.
adjustable sights have a good sight picture. fixed sights on revolvers are usually very minimalist.
S&W and Ruger are the best quality to price value, and they're easy to find new or used.

look for a S&W 19, 66, 586, or 686, or a Ruger Security Six or GP100

of course you've got two years to read up and decide your own preferences, but that's a good starting point.

Not really. So far I haven't felt the need to do so.
If it were legal here, I'd get a CC permit ofc, but actually carry? Not often. Though it's hard to say since I've never thought about it too much, since it's not an option anyway.
I'd probably get something like a Walther PPS or something for carry as a civie.

Polish and grease the transfer rods, put in a lighter spring, and maybe drop in an aftermarket trigger (this doesn't do much apart from perhaps reduce friction but basically nothing).

Mine pulls right around 4lbs now, with an unideal but still predictable and not too bad break. The tradeoff is that since the spring is weaker it has a harder time resetting, but it's not been an issue.

Tula .223 (20.8cpr) is literally cheaper than 7.62x39. It's the poorfag round now. Where have you been?
>>
>>29889639
Have a family member buy one and transfer it, immediate family only, can only do once every few yrs without pissing off the ca doj
>>
>>29899565
Still ballistically a downgrade from 7.62x54r and in short range or barrier penetration, 7.62x39
>>
>>29899608
Depends on the barrier, 556 will punch through my steel that steel cored 54r won't begin to touch. Speed kills steel apparently, more than raw energy.
Get a little further out and 54r wins hands down though.

How's high school?

I doubt the mosin is accurate enough to be effective past a couple hundred meters

Let me know when civvie 5.56 can reliably kill someone through a windshield

~2moa including human error is plenty accurate to peg stuff

>People who want ergonomic and cheap to shoot guns are just mall ninjas
>muh SKS is good because I can shoot through windshields in the SHTF

Nice little collection. And speaking as someone with a neutered sks, get a bayonet on that lug.
>>

inb4 b-b-but muh stock won't accept one
It takes five minutes with a circular hand file.
>>
>>29900956
I'm looking for one I need to cut the stock to accept bayonets because no sks stock seems to fit my rifle except that one
