Dear Gentlemen
I am in some deep problems: I am living in a rather bad neighborhood in England (crimes happen here around all the time, and have exploded in the last few years), and suffer from both congestive heart failure and severe asthma. I would love to train martial arts to defend myself, but my doctors have told me, that my body is too weak for such training (and that it could injure me). Also, I can’t carry either a gun or a knife with me, because the government has banned both weapons in public. Many criminals around here carry weapons of the size of a machete. I can neither move (I am currently a student) nor hire a bodyguard. I was wondering whether you can help me and give me some advice what I can do to protect myself better. Are there tactics, non-lethal weapons and technologies that could help me that I haven’t seen yet or that are available in other counties?

Melee is just not an option in that case. One hit won't be enough to incapacitate a thug, OP can't keep attacking because it put him at risk of having an astha/heart attack and trying to run away combined with extreme stress has a very high chance to cause an attack as well.
OP needs something that will fully incapacitate the potential attacker without putting a lot of physical effort into it.
The only things like that that I know of are:
Pepper spray, which doesn't work 100% of the time so it's a shitty option.
Taser, but it also doesn't work at all times.
And guns/crossbows. Guns are not an option, crossbows are not an option for anything other than home defence.

Running a bronze brush and solvent through a barrel and lapping the firing pin causes enough change to the rifling, chamber and pin that any lab in the country would refuse to consider it a match.
If you really want to not worry about your murdergat, get an aftermarket barrel so the poleece can't even figure out what manufacturer the weapon came from.

I use a bore-snake with most of my pieces and typically run a bronze-headed rod a few times through the barrel when I've been up to a lot of practicing.
I would advise against filling the pin, however. Depending on the make and model this could look extremely suspicious and while its circumstantial evidence its enough to make the cops interested in you, which is something you never want, evar.
I carry a Makarov because its never once jammed on me and its a nice size for CC, unfortunately you need some kind of machine-press to replace the barrel. I've actually got a .380 barrel conversion for it but that's just in-case 9x18 starts to dry up.
I'd like to carry my M&P .40 but its too bulky and the slide has a tendency to lock with rnds still in the mag, I think it might need a new recoil spring. But I mention it because they make epic aftermarket barrels for those, threaded barrel and muzzle-break.

It just has to be enough to change the primer strike print.
And Hoppe #9 IS a solvent. The buildups of fouling and other deposits are part of what creates the rifling profile that labs look for.
