Most western gear that aren't accessories that people see Russians use are typically in the hands of SOBR/FSB which are part of the MVD, which are essentially SWAT/HRT ( FSB has other tasks as well more kin to SVR duties but it's mostly known for Alfa ). Being "police" forces it's not uncommon for them to buy whatever since budget isn't constrained by standards set by the parliament or MoD.

They all have the same base pattern that CADPAT uses, but the colors are definitely not KSOR. It's a bit hard to describe, but KSOR looks "paler" and seems to have less color saturation. The browns in MARPAT pop out a bit more like in >>29842825

I meant that the Toyota is a quintessentially Middle Eastern vehicle but the background was incongruous. I got thrown off by mistaking the Syrian flag for an Iraqi one and was all confused to hell by it.
As for the weather, I just didn't realize that Syria had mountainous areas high enough to get that much snowfall. I live in Southern California, which has a similar climate and is at about the same latitude, and we only get snow above 5,000ft/1,500m.
Some quick reading says that snowfall like this is pretty rare there, and this was the worst storm in decades, so I'm not completely crazy for being surprised by it.

That example actually a light gun for most SOF. Oftentimes they are using even more shit than that. You just need to get over the fact that a modern military rifle with full capability is going to weigh just at if not over 10 pounds with accessories.
These meme-tier 8 lb AR's with a T1 and extruded full length keymod rails with a hand stop, front sight, and maybe a light are things that only cops and civilians use. Just train with it and in time every other gun will feel like a toy after you are used to a 12 pound loaded gun.
