what he needs to do is have a layered defense in depth protection,with tank ditches and barbed wires to slow down progress with large concentration of anti-personnel and vehicle mines but with clear lanes or avenue so that concentrated fire can be put down on column going through
there is also the forward defense line,with rows of machine guns covering their direct line of sight in a 65 degree angle,and can also lay down interlaying fire,then we have the front line trench where infantry would be armed with anti tank weapons
than we have the support line, just in case the first line gets breached,this is where most of the infantry will be put on and is expected to hold out against the enemy own infantry
lastly we have the reserve trench and also panzer division in the back,after we let the illegals exhaust themselves,there must be a massive counteroffensive to tired and now overstretched enemy,major attack will be done to cut off the head of the enemy assault and also against rear element,which will probably result in the annihilation of any attacking illegal forces
