/K/ommandos, you sign up as a cargo ship anti piracy guard to deffend captain Phillips from skinny. What is your rifle of choice for this task? Mine would be an dmr ar10 to keep em at range in their skiff and a shit ton of clp to fend off the salty sea air.

What ever is cheapest and available for sale to Maritime PMCs in the last port I was in. Since I have to toss the gun and probably the ammo too, before enter the next port.

M60.

I'm a Merchant Mariner on a naval auxiliary. We carry the M14, M500, and M9, plus the Mk 79, though we don't qualify on it anymore. Plus we have .50 cal mounts, and carry lotsa small arms ammo for embarked security (when we carry them).

as in a big V8, yes

mythbusters made a handcranked ballista-ish machine that "worked". and i mean with a bit of science, some good materials and lot of horsepower, we should be able to get some RoF, no?

One of my friends is a medic who works oil rigs all over the world. Back in the early 2000s, he was sent with his rig on one of those fuckall huge Russian transport ships from a port in Africa to the Persian Gulf. Around the horn of Africa, the pirates started chasing them.

> crew informs Russian captain that there are pirate skiffs closing on them from a couple of kilometers out
> 0.000 fucks given by Captain
> range closes to 1.5 kilometers
> 0.000 fucks given by Captain
> range closes to 1 kilometer
> 0.001 fucks given by Captain
> Captain vanishes below decks
> range closes to 500 meters, Captain reappears with a goddamned PKM and walks to stern railing
> Captain sights in on nearest pirate skiff, burns half a box of ammo right at the thing
> skiffs both depart, Captain resumes giving 0.000 fucks
> Russians: 0.000 fucks given since forever

RPG or MGL and plenty of ammo, if price was no option.

If price matters to me for lots of fighting, a SPEC'd up little M60 or 240B, also lots of ammo.

>have to chuck into the sea
Whatever variant of FAL or G3 I pick up cheapest, while accounting for reliability and acceptable accuracy. Occasionally I'd get a pistol I haven't shot, or in a caliber I haven't shot.

Have a crate of polymer 80% lowers
When pulling into a port toss your current ghost lower into the sea. And pack your components in a crate.

After you leave port dremel out a new lower quick and reassemble your gun quick.

Also for sidearm weaponised flare gun. "The pirate dingy just caught on fire and we were going to help but it was too late"

>When pulling into a port toss your current ghost lower into the sea.

Which port? Lowers as the weapon is pretty much a USA thing. Get caught with a barrel or trigger assembly in some countries and its years in their shithole prison system.

because it doesn't happen. i the last 3 years countries with major ports made it possible to store arms in docked ships(with appropriates documents and shit).
