Does anyone own a G43 rifle or fired one before? If so, can you tell me more about it?

I have an AR15 and 1911, but I really want to satisfy my inner wehraboo. I am prepared to shell out the cash for one I can shoot regularly. Most of the G43s I've seen online are ~$2500+. Is it worth the money?

They're shit and you can't find ammo.

Yeah you don't want to do that. These are rare and valuable as it is and they have been known to have parts breaking. That already sets the stage for losing money. These are best as safe queens and an occasional trip to the range. If you grab one under $2k in good condition you are lucky.

8mm is everywhere, shut up

Shame. I know STG was the groundbreaker, but my favorites from that era are G43 and FG42
I would pay handsomly for a repro of either

If you bought a beat-to-hell Norinco SKS you'd have a better gun. Let that sink in for a moment.

That's really disappointing.

In that case, what are your opinions on the Kar98k? Again, I want to shoot the shit out of this thing.

Why not a K98 to satisfy your inner wehrboo? Its more iconic than the G43 and won't destroy itself when shooting

Need a shooters kit to fire safely. I really like the adjustable trigger, but like most everyone else has said it's mainly a safe queen

If you buy one make sure to buy a shooter kit from Apfeltor. Or you risk breaking pieces and parts because of overgassing. Also PPU FMJ is the best ammo to use in it.

k98 are great- classic looks, mauser action, history.
the only downside being shooter RC price and 8mm price has gone up over the past few years
>>

They're great rifles. Prices vary depending on where it was manufactured. I have a Yugo and it looks almost indistinguishable from a K98. They're cool guns all around. Durable too.

Not him but I will add that Yugo Mausers are great lower-cost options. M48s are the tits. There are Yugo reworked K98s still available. They are essentially captured German rifles with scrubbed and replaced markings

Which one should I be looking for? Is the Russian capture the best one to buy since I do want a German rifle?
>>
>>29819550
Since you want to shoot it regularly it seems you are definitely going to want a Russian Capture. Something you wouldn't mind getting a bit of wear at the range unlike many K98s selling for premium (for good reason). Theres a good chance of RCs being mismatched in numbers while also having additional Russian markings and such. A good amount of German markings should still be present. I would pay around $500 for one in good condition personally.

This one is in great condition as far as Russian Captures go

The k98 Mauser is the pinnacle of bolt-action rifles.

$5-600 USD is the current rate for RCs.
if you want a shooter first and foremost, condition is what your looking for. theres usually a small premium for unpeened markings and certain manufacturers.

I love my G43. took it to the range a couple of times and had a lot of fun with it. I wont take it out agin until I get a shooter's kit though.
