selling revolvers to women to prevent rape doesnt work, the rapist steals the purse and revolver. uses said revolver to rape and steal more guns. crime rates increase, women buy more guns.

Most newer car owners dont know how to service their engine or do routine maint.
There is a profitable market, saddly, in gun cleaning service

Chamber indicators are a personal preffrence, like most features on a firearm , some people like them, others do not.
Ive never understood why firearms with a removeable safety are passed up at purchase because the gun had one.
A: dont use it , or B: remove it.

Most newer cars are harder to maintain too. Not necessarily cos muh plastic and muh computers. Just stuff like finding parts that don't cost a fortune from the dealer, or newer tech that's just harder to maintain. Like ford new philosophy of putting turbos in everything, what is this? Europe? Where is my American v8?

>>29806396
Also cars and driving are one of those things which everyone kinda has to do, but not many people want to. I love driving, even if I'm stuck in traffic I'll just crank steely Dan up. But most people don't care to drive, they just want to go places.

Most people should be taking public transport. Or maybe a large market of renting self driving cars.

Open carry is great for when you're in the woods not so great in the middle of downtown at the local burger shop. America was founded by rebels who also had no police force and had to deal with the Natives. Militias were needed to protect against general crime, Native attacks, insurrections by slaves or other crazy whitefolk, and attacks while traveling the distances between towns and frontier. Nowadays, you don't even really need guns for self-defense, although it helps. The second amendment was to ensure the possibility a militia could be formed; a militia is no longer necessary, not to mention impracticable. You don't truly 'need' guns, nor do you have right to them.
>>
>>29807285

I think you are willing to overlook them, I'm talking about someone who notices it (after they've raved about it) and then instantly dismisses it, despite having loved it 2 seconds prior.

>You don't truly 'need' guns, nor do you have right to them.

Of course you have the right. It's right there in the Second Amendment: "The right to bear arms".

All the 2A does is give one good reason not to abridge the right. You can't talk about abriding a right unless you agree there's a right in the first place. And just because you rule out one reason to abridge it, that doesn't make all other reasons fair game.

The right exists, whether militias are needed or not. The government doesn't have the authority to abridge rights, without showing compelling public benefit and no less infringing solution possible. Deal with it.
>>
>>29807168
Yea you ought have a general understanding of things you use. Cars computers whatever else.
>>
>>29807490
You're ignoring the prefatory clause, "a well regulated militia..." the right to bear arms was for the state; the framers wanted to protect the states right to self-defense and ensure a militia could be raised if need be. If the framers intended to protect the right of the individual citizen to own guns, they would have expressly done so.

Of course, there's disagreement on the interpretation and I guess it's my own stupid fault for trying to argue my points on a board all about gun ownership

>>
>>29807666
nice trips

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with the graphic. a nominative absolute is the main subject of the sentence. You recognize them by adding conjunctions to them.

For example, "a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" is the same as " *because* a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

i.e., the reason the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed is to have a well-regulated militia.

Seriously though, I know this is 4chan but you don't need to be so angry because some stranger disagrees with you
>>
>>29807604
Stop ignoring the second part.
>"the right of the PEOPLE to bear arms shall not be infringed."

It doesn't say anything about only militia members being allowed guns.

The supreme court has only done so twice, in Heller and McDonald, but also has stated that it is not guaranteed in Cruiskshank and in Miller held that states could limit weapons that aren't related to militia regulation, so its not as if there isn't support for my side from the Supreme Court as well.

You skip words and ignore commas so people remind you "Hey, you forgot that part of our 2nd Amendment that says: -the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." It's pretty much classist to try to convince the majority population that they aren't "people" and that the population doesn't "need" this particular Right. The right is natural, god given, it doesn't recognize the word "needs" or "priveledge". Newer cars can be an absolute bitch to service without a hoist and the right tools these days, too. The plastic undertray is usually a cunt to remove, then the oil filter is either hidden behind a fuckton of obstacles or has a plastic housing that requires a special tool/27/32mm socket to unscrew.

Then you run into retarded design flaws like the Mazda BT50/Ford Bravo with diesel engines that you can't leave empty for more than 15 minutes or the oil drains from the variable oil pump, meaning it can't make oil pressure even if it's filled up half an hour later.

If it's mandated and enforced by men with guns then I can concede.

>Imo the right to self preservation supersedes the right to control who you let in
youve got plenty of right to not go there. if you dont feel safe there without a gun, then maybe you shouldnt be there because it isnt safe. theres also plenty of places where that simply isnt an option because physical location excludes it, like MRI machine rooms and the visitors visiting area inside of a prison and what not.
so tl:dr i think the right to control who you let in supersedes the right to carry, and its not affecting the right to self preservation since you are not forced to enter

It's retarded to have a self-built AR as a weapon you plan to bet your life on.

I've seen ARs fall the fuck apart during classes or at the range because their owners wanted to be cheap or a special snowflake by cobbling together their own shit. For a range toy it's fine I guess, for a serious fighting rifle you need to just bite the bullet and buy a qualty prebuilt.

Trigger safeties are hokey at best, and not even really a safety imo.

USPs and HKs in general are super overrated, and the only reason people sperg over them is because of video games.

The Sig SP2022 is one of the most underrated guns currently on the market. With the exception of a *slightly* worse trigger and ergos, they're basically just polymer framed 226s for literally half the price.

Having owned one, they are worth maybe $600 for a P226. There is nothing to warrant a bigger price tag.

>More guns means more deaths. Thats a fact
Perhaps, but not that many more. Fully one third of all gun deaths (on average 21,000 annually) are suicide and the U.S. has suicide rates half or lesser capita eliminates suicide deaths from the equation.

So your left with 12,000 annual non suicide gun deaths, which make up .4% of the 2.5 million people who die every year in the U.S.

Pretty much every other cause of death the CDC tracks causes more deaths.

So, are your willing to eliminate an inumerated Constitiutional right of a tiny fraction of overall fatalities?

If so, you are arguing from a position of emotion, not logic.

A handgun is a great thing when you need to stop a threat, not necessarily kill a threat, if you have a gun chambered between .32 and .45 acp. A higher caliber round would kill somebody quickly though.

If you need to kill something you should probably carry a rifle or a shotgun.

Tl;dr if you need Jerome to stop beating you up, a handgun is fine. If you need to kill Jerome, a rifle is more suited for that.
>>
>>29806321
.32 caliber automatics and revolvers are adequate for self defense, and actually have many advantages when compared to larger calibers.

Stockpiling multiple cartridges is annoying.

.223, 9mm, .308, 12 gauge, .22. Anything else is superfluous. I own lots of oddball guns, but buying/storing ammo for them is annoying as Hell.
>>
>>29816820
Japan and South Korea have double the suicide rate of the United States and gun control that makes Great Britain look like Texas by comparison.

If you're worried about suicide, you should aurgue to increase mental health care and funding, not increase gun control.
>>
>>29806321
People should have to pass a guns safety course before being allowed to buy them, like a drivers license.
Free though.
>>
>>29816942

So maybe not stockpile 5000 rounds of 8mm mauser.

Maybe have a couple hundred rounds for a back up 9mm/40/45 or barrels for .357sig/10mm for compatible guns.

I should have elaborated on the faggot who's master plan is to have a pistol caliber carbine/pistol combo.

>but don't use the same mags.
>>
>>29816820

>be me
>own a handgun
>it telepathically communicates to me to kill my self
Owning a gun makes suicide easier but it doesn't make the owner some how decide to an hero, if somebody is suicidaltL they'll kill themselves regardless of if they had a gat or not.
>>
>>29816344
A mag dump to the chest won't kill someone? I think not.

I am all for more regulation of guns, as long as it does not pose any significant barrier or cost to law abiding citizens. If I mention this opinion to any of my gun enthusiast friends their heads explode.
Requiring a license and registration does not stop millions of people from owning and operating vehicles. Sure it doesn't stop every unlicensed individual from driving, but it certainly does help.
