So, I'm going on a road trip across the US in a few months, and wanted to know what I can do to defend myself. Right now, I'm a connecticunt, and I'll be going to Oregon, down to Arizona, and back east to Tennessee, where I'll make a more permanent stop.
I'll also have a small trailer I'll be living out of for that time, if that changes things. I do not have a carry permit, as getting one here is absolutely rediculous.

Your option is have situational awareness and don't be a dumbass. Your car is a ~1.5 ton gasoline powered battering ram though; if things get hairy just mash the go pedal.

Most states have safe passage laws, well around NE by me, so you may get to pretend youre just passing through if you get shit from the 5-0

There are laws protecting travellers from differing state gun laws. So long as you are only travelling through the state in your personal vehicle or public transport and only are stopping at gas stations you are immune from being fucked by shitty state gun laws.
Only laws you must worry about are
a) Where you live
b) Your destination

In all honesty you should be okay. You're avoiding most of the worst states, them being on the east, and west coast. Shit, Im in south east PA and can't carry into jersey, maryland, or evem delaware which is like 20 minutes away.
