It's not so much that the percentage of shitposters has gone up, it's that the number of posters in general have gone up, which leads to an increase of shitposters IRN. It doesn't help that shitposters tend to be the ones to create threads, nor does the fact that people have decided that /k/ is about military life in general and not just gear. We have a containment thread for milfags and people still can't seem to not post threads asking for rock washing stories.
Back when /k/ was slow you could ignore shit threads and be confident that threads that you like would be up for days even if it wasn't very active, but thanks to the increase in memelords this is no longer the case, which basically forces you to read through a catalog of BS every single time you want to find something interesting.
