I want one, but without the rail. In 9mm. I'm considering a standard RO with the LPA cut and just ordering the Harris Custom U-notch fixed rear, or Heinies.

i believe that Springfield isn't a bad choice, atleast if you listen to /k/. i don't have one. the CZ is another nice traditional 1911 but could break your budget if you're not careful. are you actually wanting a more traditional 1911?
>>
I have no experience with 1911s but I want to buy one. Is Rock Island a good into 1911 or should I look at some others?
>>

i actually want a springfield range officer with the upgraded beavertail and the better sights. i dont need a light rail but i also cant afford to pay 1000 for a pistol
>>
>>29774503
I found a used loaded model for $450, just keep your eyes peeled for a good deal. The restraint you have to practice with your money will be good for you.
>>
>>29774555
i'm worried about buying a used 1911 and having it be trash because i don't know what i'm looking at. I've watched videos about how to test the lockup and everything and i know what a good bore looks like but i just don't want to fuck up and be out money and have my first pistol be a piece of shit.

when i was looking for the same things the Rugers seemed like a good option. but damn, they don't appear to be legal in your country.. many don't, infact. that will be the real problem.

I'm with this guy, I'm looking into a 1911 and can't decide between a Springfield Mil-Spec or a RIA. A gunsmith I went to said his recommendation would be RAI with a few parts swapped for extension of reliability. Any thoughts?

Heard some bad things about their cheapest models. Got a 10mm tactical from ria coming in the mail myself.

Havent heard anything bad and they seem to be worth (comparitively) more than their pricetag. They come with 1 mag but even 10mm arent hard to find.

the operator TRP with the full length rail

if you put some fucking wizbang light or laser on the rail and had an RMR on it then it would be future as fuck
>>
>>29774872
RIA is decent tier. They may not be as gone over as Wilson 1911s, but they will run barring some major failure, in which you can use the lifetime warranty and send it back.

Springfield Milspec is just that. Milspec. Its barebones, but i generally hear good things about them. Dont expect custom gun performance, but then again, if you dont have a lot of 1911 experience, you probably couldnt tell the difference anyway.

Thoughts on the Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911? $750 for a smooth as butter 1911 with a much better trigger than a stock ruger, takes kimber pattern parts, extended beavertail, front slide serrations. Seems quite well put together from the couple of times i've handled one.

>>
>>29785720
.... Springfields are always way more expensive than others. They are almost always over $1000. You can say they are good guns but probably not a "for the money" argument. I think the "for the money" award goes to Sigs. They have great features for low prices.

I have heard good things about RIAs, but better things about the Springfields. If you want the old GI style, I think the Springfield mil-spec is pretty awesome.

Although I would suggest a nice Colt instead. The old series 70s or 1991s can be had for pretty close to the same price as the Springers.

Does anyone have an opinion on sig 1911s?

Due to Australias ahitty gun laws a 1911 in .45 is a pain to get and I dont particularly want one in 9mm. Sig does the tacops in .357nerve damage but I don't really know if they suffer from from the problems that I've heard some sigs having with rusting from being looked at the wrong way and other QC issues.

>>29786145
What is the manufacturer the A1? I have one that Citadel made that has given me zero issues and eats everything that I have thrown at it. I would imagine that ones by other Armscor brands would probably work out well too.
>>
>>29786536
First of all, those are memes about the sig rust. Those problems stopped when they moved to stainless slides/parts.

Second, they only really ever applied to the P series, not the 1911s.

I personally think Sigs are the best production 1911 out there, especially when considering price. They have great features, really good anti-corrosion finish, and pretty reliable. The worst I've heard about them is they sometimes need a little polish on the barrel throat and breech face. Other than that, they are top notch imo.

.357 sig in a 1911 on the other hand... is pretty fucking retarded. Change the everliving shit out of that recoil spring. Like seriously every 500-1000 rounds. 357 is super high pressure, way more than .45 and .45 1911s already need relatively frequent recoil spring changes, just make sure you stay on top of it or you might have problems/breakages later on using a meme caliber in a gun it wasn't designed for.

Also some people upgrade the mag catch, mag catch spring, and extractor with Wilson and EGW parts, respectively. I don't think it's necessary but it's a nice upgrade.
>>
>>29786716
500 to 1000 rounds, fuck I'd be replacing the springs every 6 months.

I don't think I've ever actually shot a .357sig so maybe I should give that a shot before investing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is airsoft. Just that grip...kinda looks like it came off a toy. Maybe it's just the lighting idk.

Have heard good things about it generally.

Just be aware of MR's terrible customer service and 1 year non-transferable warranty. They will not stand behind their product no matter what should you have the gun longer than a year or not be the original owner, unlike other major manufacturers, and they require a receipt to prove purchase date. Out of warranty repairs are going to cost you a minimum of $165+parts.

Even if you never have any problems there's that godawful billboard rollmark.

>there's a reason why they still use .45 as their main pistol caliber

Well first off, they don't. Their main pistol calibre is still 9mm.

Certain units still use .45 Auto for the same reason they still use 1911s. They're nostalgic idiots.

I have a colt mk 4 1911 which my dad carried during his Blackwater days, videki trigger with some various upgrades he did when he bought the gun, this is the best pic I've got. That Mark 4 is the smoothest most bad ass handgun I've ever fired.

If you have the 1600$ this gun is absolutely phenomenal

One of the best Officer sized 1911s out there.

I just bought the one without the rail (http://armscor.com/firearms/rock-series/rock-ultra-ms-10mm/). Dealer lost it in their storeroom and gave me a $50 box of Sig ammo, so it wasn't too painful.

The reason they switched is because the 10mm was knocking female agents on their ass. With .357 Magnum-esque pressure, it's a bit of a load unless you have a >= 2 lb. all-steel pistol.

I've handled a CZ 1911 and they felt really solid, but it was pretty much milspec, no extended beavertail or front serrations.
