With all due respect, you don't have to use a multicam bolt to have a camouflaged rifle.

Build a house out of brick, or concrete, then camo it. Hell you can put wood on the outside and moss on top.
>>
>>29743028
Where tho? Is it better to be above ground or below ground ? Which state do you think would be best for a SHTF situation (climate, available water sources, ect)? Build a kind of make shift fence out of blackberry bushes (fucking nasty thorns) around the perimeter to further camo your house and disueade intruders from sniffing around your domicile? So many questions anon...

That's actually a really good idea! Especially if you could some how keep it somewhat below ground but still drivable (like a ramp that goes into a skinny dug out ditch and also one that you can drive out of). Thanks anon!
>>
Gonna point out that for those that want to use the shipping containers for underground use.

Your gonna want to learn how to weld and start welding some metal ribcages on the frames of the container that way it has a "skeleton" frame for it so it doesn't bend or break easily.

Also keep in mind about the dangers of radon from the ground since it is constantly seeping up through the dirt soil and if uou have no ventilation system for radon or any detection your underground base will end up being filled with radon that can cause you severe cancer.
>>
Helped a former boss of mine clear land and build a pole shed and cabin up near Canada, solar powered and has a well and septic tank.

Short term SHTF we'll meet up there and wait it out. Long term I guess we'd set up trail cams and fences, and clear farm land out.
>>
Just purchase a property in a rural area. I found 6 acres of land with a double-wide trailer for $28k a few years ago.

Look within 1-1.5 hours of your location if you're in a major city. Somewhere that you can get to quickly, and also maybe in a direction of the least amount of incoming and outgoing traffic (IE not having property between the two most populous cities in your state).

IMO, buy your fucking property before you start hoarding guns and supplies. You people that live in city apartments spending thousands on guns and shit make me laugh.

Depends on the rating of the container. Super heavy containers can withstand a lot more than 18 inches of dirt.

You can also reinforce the roof with some welding and steel plating. Weld some extra pillars onto the walls and some plate across the top.

The shipping containers are stacked on the edges. The tops/bottoms/sides are not load bearing and are just shitty sheet metal. If you bury one, it needs an extra roof added that is rounded (like a school bus roof) to keep the weight off of the sheet metal. I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for so many people to grasp.

Even if there is a chance that it won't cave in in the first few months, why take a risk like that? So many people make it clear that it is a bad idea but some assholes just need their fantasies.

Only answer. for about 15 grand you can get enough 1/2" AR500 to make it entirely smallarms proof. Doesn't even really need to be wood, just put wood cladding on the outside and finish up the interior with insulation and drywall, then cut gun ports and murder holes in the thing. Don't forget the earthwork starfort around it. Cozy as Fuck.

It's because people bury them improperly. You know they stack them on each other right?

>>29746202
Also this guy gets it.

A car crashed into our shipping container that was loaded up with hay. He hit it hard enough to move it a foot or two. It stayed structurally sound.
>>
>>29748179
Another angle.

If you know anything about shipping containers you will know they can take a beating and hold the weight. When it comes to putting dirt on top of it of course you can't just dump it on and say, DONE! You're going to have to apply a little science and geometry.

>>
>>29742999
Shipping containers need to be stacked, they have stacking points.
You would need to place a load bearing plate that transfers the pressure from the dirt onto the container's load bearing points.
>>
>>29748281
I agree with you on that point if does right they can be buried but I'm of the opinion that the smart way to do it is to recess your shipping container 3-4 feet or so into the ground and reinforce the sides with concrete or mettle plates of some sort then pile that dirt along the sides plant some black berry bushes around it and call it good

making land farmable isnt something you can just do shtf. You should be clearing and prepping the land yearly. At that point you might as well just plant crops half assed just to see what grows best. Man that's a great idea. Wish it was feasible however

Expect a toxic and still flammable asphalt-like slick that's in the bottom of the tank that you'll never be able to get out of there. That's why they are so eager to sell them to you cheaply, they don't have to care for ecological disposal that way.

Don't think you can cut it open without blowing.
