I live in a country where .308 is the largest calibre I'm allowed, and I have a .308. The only ammunition I'm able to buy comprises:

Winchester Sierra Matchking
Winchester Power Max Bonded
Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silver Tip
Remington Core-Lokt

Reloading is not legal in this jurisdiction, and necessary supplies are not available.

I understand the Silver Tip is a high stopping power, short range load. However, anyone approaching my property is definitely a threat even at several kilometres range. Which round is the best choice to engage intruders at long range?

Where the fuck do you live?

What in the fuck?

I live in Peru, a country with a tough history of terrorism and strict weapons laws. Indeed, the main threat I'm concerned about is Shining Path guerrillas who might want to bother me, as otherwise I live in a pretty remote spot.

Stopping power is a myth.

I would use the SMKs because, of the options listed, they have the highest BC.
>>
>>29727114
No kidding. Wouldn't mind hearing more about the gun laws and what you're doing there and so on.

I don't have much experience with 308, but the Match King sounds good for engaging at long distances. Might depend on your barrel twist, too.
>>
They'll all kill.

The correct answer is whichever is most accurate from your barrel.
>>
Git gud with your rifle.

Training > weapon > ammo
>>
Also, if it's feasible, you might consider something like 6.5 Creedmoor or 25-06 for long-range accuracy.
>>
>>29727040
Honestly in that area any of those will work really well. The sierra match kings will be the best for shooting at things far away.
>>29727208
>can only buy 4 types of 308 and reloading is illegal
>6.5 creed or 25-06
Pick 1

Righto

"Only criminals have guns". Seriously, proper hitmen are using .22 LR. Very strict, but the terrorists ambush military patrols, kill them, and take their weapons.

>>29727193
>>29727202
Good advice. I'll get on it. I have a .22 as well to practice with, as .308 rounds cost about double what they do in the US, which of course is proportionately a lot more in a less developed country.

>>29727208
Sadly, not feasible. Few calibres are available here.

I'm not surprise. Considering that South America is still recovering/suffering from communists, oligarchies and juntas, the dumbasses in power will still carry their traditions.
>>

>.22
What type of .22 ammunition does it fire? .22lr? .223? .22 WMR?
>>
>>29727294
The Shining Path are communist narco-terrorists, as we're still up against them.

>>29727333
Sorry, all .22 LR. There are a few .22 mags available in the country, but when I say .22 I'm talking about the pea shooter.
>>
>>29727364
Ah. Well, just hope they're not wearing captured body armor and aim well placed shots.
>>
>>29727391
I rely on their weak training, and low interest in areas that don't produce cocaine. My homemade ghilly outfit works most for me, and so far I scare them off with a few random shots. They don't care enough to get serious.

Central Peru, upland from the VRAEM. Check your map.

Home made ghillie suit = fishing net, sack cloth, and time. Took me about a week.

>Expensive guns and ammo

I spent about 10,000 soles (= $3000 more or less) on long rage rifle (.308), practice rifle (.22) handgun (.380) handgun (.308), practice handgun (.22) and shotgun (12 ga) all in.
>>
>>29727705
.308 handgun?
>>
>>29727861
Sorry, handgun I get up to .380 ACP. Anything bigger is classed as a military calibre.
>>
>>29727874
Even .38 super?
>>
>>29727924
.380 ACP is all I know. Glock 25. Grateful I never had to use it.
