/k/ what should my first pistol be? Grendel P10 or Hi Point .45 ACP?
If you have any other dirt cheap reliable semi-auto pistols (preferably .380 or .45) feel free to suggest

How black are you?
But between the two, obv the Hi Point.

A Rock Island Armory 1911 is a good first gun too.

Wow. On the list of choices likely presented by idiots, that one ranked pretty high.

what happened to your glock 40 problem solver Jamal?

You can carry extra clips for the P10 so that's a plus.

List of cheap gats that are good and not Hi-Points
>Rock Island Armory 1911 (9mm Luger/.40S&W/.45ACP), $300 range
>Zastava M70A (9mm Luger/7.62mm Tokarev), $300 range, possibly less if used
>Ruger P80, P85, P90, etc (9mm Luger/.45ACP) $300 range, depending on model
>Kahr CT9, CT40 (9mm Luger/.40S&W), $300 range
>Star Model B (9mm Luger/9mm Largo), $300 range WW2 surplus, though magazines can be shifty
>Smith & Wesson SD9VE (9mm Luger/.40S&W) $300 range, maybe even cheaper if you're lucky
>Walther P1 (9mm Luger), post WW2 commercial model of the classic P38 made with an aluminum frame, can sometimes be found in good condition in the $300 range
You can go for a Hi-Point, and it's better than nothing, in fact, it should run well if your magazines are fine, but for just $100 more you can radically expand your options for a much better weapon.

Don't forget the Canik knockoffs of the Cz75 and Walther P99. They are around $300 iirc.

> what should my first pistol be?
used Smith & Wesson DA/SA pistols in the 39 and 59 series can be had inexpensively
especially seek:
Model 915 ('budget' version of the standard 5904/5906 double stack 9mm)
Model 908 (single stack 'budget' version of 3913/3914)
Model 469 (compact, 669 is stainless)
.45 ACP —
Model 645 full size (replaced by 4506)
Model 457 (compact DA/SA, similar to 3913 / 3914 / 908; replaced by 4513 / 4516)
these were top of the line police issue (prior to Glock's market dominance) in the 1980s and early 90s
all of these guns can be found in decent shape in the $250 - $400 range
if you're willing to adopt the basic S&W Model 39/59 magazine system for any of these pistols, you have cross-platform interchangeability
the compacts will accept full size/capacity mags, etc.
anyway these pistols, their parts, and magazines are widely adopted and available relatively cheap at pawn shops
