A big enough gun could.

Fuck your nigger science I'll murder your stars and adopt Pluto as a planet.
>>
>implying
It'll take a long time and some serious work.
But the Sun is a relatively delicate balance of inward pressure due to gravity and outward pressure from the fusion occurring.

It is only capable of fusing up to carbon. Once this happens the energy cost exceeds the energy released. The Sun will then she'd it's outer layers, and effectively die.

Considering bullets are lead and copper. We can in theory kill the Sun.

But Pluto is a planet
>>

They down-graded Pluto to a micro planet or some shit.

Do you even science bro?
>>
>>29580906
It's a dwarf planet, but only because it's too weak to clear its orbit.

I know what your talking about.
But the group that "changed" it, Astronomers if I recall correctly, were not imbued with authority on such matters. They didnt go to check with planetary scientists, see what they thought.

And if you read the criteria of why Pluto isnt a planet, then Earth isnt a planet, Jupiter isnt a planet.

Please tell me that you aren't referring to the moon(s).

No if Pluto isnt a planet, that means Neptune isnt, because Pluto and neptunes orbits cross.

Earth has asteroids that have a similiar orbit.

Jupiter has the same

Mars and Neptune have assorted debris around them as well.
>>
>>29580849
You just need more dakka. Shooting enough lead into it will eventually fuck up the fusion process and it'll die in a few million years.

Also, there's never enough dakka (assuming dakka means matter being propelled to destroy something). You can always fire more or bigger projectiles. However, if enough dakka were to be achieved (all available energy in the universe propelling all available matter in the universe) then you'd simultaneously have TOO much dakka because you'd have nothing left to shoot at.

If Pluto is a planet then so are the hundreds of other Pluto sized rocks in the outer orbit.

Im not saying what should be a planet.
What im saying is the International Astronomical Union came up with a very crude checklist of criteria that seemed more interested in generating headlines than making a meaningful change that would give the title of planet some meaning.

What they meant was that Pluto hasn't cleared objects about its same size from orbit.
There are still other dwarf planets nearby pluto which pluto has failed to drag in and merge with due to its gravity being too low.
Our moon's actually bigger than Pluto, much so in fact.
And actually, if you took all of Russia's landmass and condensed it into a ball, it'd be larger than Pluto.
A lot of the other Dwarf Planets nearby Pluto are bigger than it too, and scientists now think Pluto and it's moon Charon (I think) are a Binary Planet System considering that Charon is 'round Pluto's size.
And even further than that, they also think that Pluto and Charon are just far-removed moons from Neptune or Uranus.

Pluto just doesn't make the cut.

>lots of
there are literally 2 other planetoids around Pluto's size that we've found. There's no harm in excluding them or including them as planets. Nobody would give a fuck.

The reason why Pluto was excluded is because Neil Degrasse Tyson wants his name in the history books. He made a solar system model for an astronomy museum that didn't include Pluto. When people called him out on it, he created some planetary bullshit naming committee and told everyone he invited to it that Pluto was going to be out no matter what. When they came up with a "good enough" definition (that could even cause Earth to be disqualified) he shat it all over every news outlet screaming that "If you don't agree with me, now it's anti-science!!!!!" like his fucking opinion is worth as much as his shit.
>>
Astro-fags on my /k/. Aka the most boring subject in all of physics.
>>
>>29581659
What a complete crock of bullshit

Do you make up these stories on the fly, or do you have a collection of these to come up with?

Because the Dwarf Planet definition was entirely down to the International Astronomical Union, in 2006, in the XXVIth IAU General Assembly, in Prague. Where a vote of attending delegates agreed on the definition.

Nothing at all to do with Neil Degrasse Tyson or an exhibition, you fucking moron.

Now, if you have the ability to read, please answer the question: How many of those are the size of Pluto?

>>29581896

\Neil deGrasse Tyson: We wanted to create an exhibit that had a high shelf-life. We looked around at the trend lines where things were headed the solar system. What we found in the mid-90s was that researchers were discovering new objects in the outer solar system, objects that were small like Pluto, icy like Pluto, with elongated orbits like Pluto, with tipped orbits like Pluto. And we thought to ourselves, maybe it’s not that Pluto was the 9th planet. Maybe Pluto was the first object of a new class of objects that populates this outer zone in the solar system.

That museum exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York led to what Tyson called a “firestorm” of response and debate. Six years later, in 2006, astronomers voted to demote Pluto to dwarf planet status.
