No. The NFA exists because Roosevelt was a socialist cunt who wanted to ban all guns but couldn't get his way. The Obama of his time.

Originally the NFA was going to ban all handguns, but they couldn't get that done so a "compromise" was done on short "long arms". Thus SBR shit.

Whats odd though is Israel makes good guns. Wouldn't this be bad business for them?
>>
>>29580663
>Israel makes good guns
They really don't.
>>
>>29580658
It is Reagan's signature that signed it into law. Reagan also was opposed to "assault rifles" and supported the Brady Bill.
>>
>>29580321
This. The racial unrest of the 60-70s played a huge role in Reagan's gun legislation, and eventually normalizing concepts like AWB.

Whatever your take on groups like the black Panthers are, if you strip out the names of these groups, and color of their skin, the things they were saying in 1970 about guns sound exactly like what people are saying today.

>The racial unrest of the 60-70s
And who was behind that?
>>
>>29580721
Dixiecrats
>>
>>29580684
>It is Reagan's signature that signed it into law
And Hughes' amendment was written in at the "11th hour". The bill was entirely progun before that. You should read up on it.

>Reagan was...
It would have been politically disastrous for him to oppose the Brady Bill. Brady was the guy that took one of the bullets in the head intended for Reagan and became an invalid.

>assault rifles
It was the spirit of the times in politics. It's shitty but that's how I remember it. Why else do you think we had the 1994 Bill?
>>
>>29580725
Simply a manifestation of a segment, or societal physche, of the country. Dixiecrat, democrat, republican whatever.

Clinton is of that ilk, it's obvious. She brags about the loyality if her plantation wing of her base. The right isn't immune from pandering to the dynamic either.

Anyhow the point is, there some intrinsic truths in the constitution and liberty. Live and let live. Oppressing a group by proxy opresses yourself eventually. Gun legislation is a classic modern example.
>>
>>29580725
Try again.
>>
>>29580747
Sounds like a whole lotta excuses.
>>
>>29580747
He still didn't have to sign it. Ultimately it is the President that signs a bill into law. Blame rests with Reagan. Reagan was already out of office by the time the Brady Bill was being considered. He didn't have to support it for any political reason.
