Honestly I think WW3 will become a possibility if the math for 4th generation "pure fusion" nuclear weapons are developed.
Nukes that work without fissile materiel and would be both politically correct to use due to a lack of fallout and impossible to control or limit the development as the fissile maternal is the hardest part.
