Can we get a thread on lesser known groups that still do highspeed spooky stuff? Pic related. SWCC, Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman.

LRS is made up of mostly former U.S. Army Rangers and Airborne Infantrymen. It is a seasoned group of well trained men getting even more high speed training. They are like SF light. I find it unusual that nobody really pays attention to LRRP, LRP, LRSD, BfSB, etc.

Pararescue, lesser known but actually took part in a lot of operations from the rescue in black hawk down, to the rescue of the failed Operation Red Wing
>>
>>29547234
A discovery channel crew followed a class of PJs. They were embarrassingly under trained. They may be experts on emergency medicine but they can't even compare to NG Infantry when it comes to war fighting. I cringed so hard watching that episode. I wanted to believe they were high speed super troopers but they simply are not.

Again: Experts in emergency medicine. Amateurs in field tactics.
>>
>>29547308
True but their primary role is medicine, they don't go out alone, they would go with seals, or Rangers or are on a QRF chopper to fix someone's ass up.

Jesus i knew people said some stupid shit on the internet, but godamn. LRS (at least whats left of them) has a key word in there, Reconnaissance, there's nothing SF lite about that, they simply have a specific job and they happen to get a lot of funding and training to do it.
>>
>>29547191
LRS has practically no direct action responsibilities. And it's not made up of "former rangers", my company SOP was e5 and higher had to either be tabbed or (preferably) go to RSLC. If you are in an LRS unit, you are a ranger, it is a ranger unit. Colloquially LRS units are referred to as a "ranger company", because they perform the traditional ranger tasks of reconnaissance and scouting.

>>29547562
The word "reconnaissance" is not in "LRS", which stands for Long Range Surveillance.

t. former LRSfag
>>
>>29547626
Yea whatever im hungover, but you are not a ranger in a LRS unit, you're a ranger if you're in a ranger unit. You are gently encouraged to become ranger qualified of thats what you mean
>>
>>29547672
LRS is a ranger unit.

Rangers=LRS and the 75th.
>>
>>29547562
LRS remains relevant despite your ignorant accusation. They do "missions other than war." They deploy with other federal agencies doing counter drug operations. They train federal agencies on counter drug ops. They do battlefield damage assessments, eyes-on-target surveillance that drones lack, target acquisitions and countless other missions a brigade commander may desire.

When you have a detachment of men as well trained and experienced as LRS, you don't piss away opportunities to utilize them.
>>
>>29547684
Rangers have a recon element organic to them but the acronym escapes me, LRS is ised for regular army units, and while highspeed as fuck, they are not ranger batt
>>
>>29547705
The LRS unit at ft. Bragg just got greenlit for being disbanded, some other people might have different opinions than yourself
>>
>>29547709

"Airborne infantrymen." Unless you're talking about Rangers or SF, airborne infantry means diddly squat over any other infantry outside of the hurr durr 82nd propaganda.
>>
>>29547887
You are obviously a leg or a dirt bag civilian. I've served in airborne units, leg units and a ranger unit. The differences are overt. My first duty station was the 82nd. When I derosed to a leg unit overseas, the motivation, attention to detail and basic standards were insulting. In the 82nd, if you start falling out of a run, you get your ass kicked. In leg land, when I hollered at a fallout, people looked at me like I was a psychopath.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Airborne Infantry do not get medals for exemplary conduct. We are expected to go above and beyond every single day.

Personally, I think 160th is a bunch of prima donas who have over inflated egos. When someone leaves a normal line unit and goes to 160th, they'll snub their old friends like they don't exist. Real highschool shit. And when they accept a mission, they need 72hr notice, it MUST be at night and if anything changes the mission gets scrapped. SF prefers to use normal assault companies in theater because they'll take a mission at the drop of a hat.

Flight concepts though, is some real sneaky James Bond shit. They walk to a deployed unit's commander, get the keys to a bird and then proceed to remove all of the safety stops in the controls before taking it out on a mission. They'll go to an adjacent bird and ratfuck it for spare parts. I've heard stories of them straight up sneaking into a foreign airbase and stealing aircraft. They're almost mythical in Army Aviation and only spoken of briefly in hushed tones. They're the real deal.

The initial recon team failed to complete their initial recon for the operation itself. The operation itself went off without a hitch and was a success.

>>
>>29554152
We're getting pretty off topic but whatever. I originally wanted to race cars when I got out of the Army but I was limited on space so I chose motorcycles. I started out with a 250 and went to trackdays and hit my local mountains(84 and 9). After a few trackdays I went to Keigwins two day track schools to get more experience. As of right now I've upgraded to a GSXR 600 as my track bike but I'll go to a 450 or 250 to start racing in AFM next year. If you're in Monterey you have Laguna Seca which is one of the best tracks in the country but they do have sound restrictions. Once you start going to the track you should network with everyone to get a lot of knowledge. There's a lot of really rich riders that also race karts, sumos, cars, and whatever else they want so if you befriend them they can help you get into other stuff.

Operation Drop In

You dumb fuck

>my not so high esteem for them. They fly helicopters good, but so does the rest of the Army.
This is what I think of (most of) SOF. They do their job good, like a lot of other guys in the armed forces. The job they do just involves political sensitive operations. But since the three block war this goes for most of the troops.

>poop bags

I was always told that they kept those so keep their activities hidden.
>>
>>29558810
Yeah, the whole point of pooping in the bag is taking it home with you so no one will ever know you have been there.

Neurosurgeons make shitty general surgeons. They're still operators.

The DPRK has 'submarine snipers' which apparently are frogmen trained to infiltrate with underwater sleds, surface at night and engage ground targets with long range fire. They also have stuff like sleds that carry 9 short tube 107mm rockets.

Which if you think about it is kinda scary in a 'where the fuck did that come from' sort of way.

Apparently quite common. I had face time in two video shots of the Discovery Channel's World of Valor series, SEALS, Green Berets and Rangers,

I was in the bit about the Rangers.

Point being, we put o our best face for the ntire country to appreciate. The United States Air Force either did that or they failed to do that. Either is humuroulsly disappointing.

That was an exaggerated blather of the FMJ intro. Keep up.

100% wrong

Even when they deploy on a marine op I think SAS troopers come along for the ride. This based on an operation I heard about yonks ago. Terrs taken over a ship, hostages, said they rigged the boat to blow. Joint SAS/SBS task force readies to fly in, but realise they can't defuse the explosives themselves, so they pick up a random ammunition technician officer along the way. This guy not SF by any stretch, so they're kinda desperately trying to get him ready in the chopper flying to the ship. Including giving him a quick primer on how to parachute into the ocean without breaking your legs and spine. He made it, somehow.

Dunno the truth of this but I read it somewhere online.

Anyway, on topic, SBS are by all accounts a good bunch of lads. Probably have their naked roll mat fighting down to a science too.

Something about swamp lagoon forced the mental break in Corpsman, not even the stumps or Apra Harbor does to men's minds what Lejeune does.

If the bag breaks in your ruck some shit will pour out. That's why most units just bury or dump them along the way.

I like to think they were marking their territory to warn of the other SARCs that we were their property to possibly eat or rape at their leisure
>mfw they were never caught doing it

It's the "into water" bit that's the problem I think. But agreed on Brit press though. The other day the times ran a front page piece on "BRITISH GUNS SOLD TO TERRORISTS IN LIBYA" because a few webleys, sterlings, an Enfield mk3 and a been had popped up on a local Facebook seller page. What a misleading headline and complete non-story.
The only crime is that they aren't held in British collector's and enthusiast's hands... Although there's something nice in knowing that a gun is still being used in war long after it was retired.

You're right, I was a leg. I never had a combat jump. And neither did you in the 82nd. Jumping in after 75th or SF doesn't count.

82nd are the Marines of the Army, all the hype and all the retardation.
