how hard would it be to put a charging handle on a bolt?
>>
If the carrier is properly hardened, probably pretty hard to drill and tap a hole for the handle... The cutout for the upper would probably be easy...
>>
>>29545961
Why would you want to make the AR less good than it already is?

*better

Top handle is hard to use with big scopes and smg setups
>>
Wouldnt the charging handle snap on that poor BCG
>>
>>29546101
Maybe if it was made out of your spine.

Am I just engineering over kill to think that the dust cover instead of flipping down on the first round flips back up so that the bolt is ever actually exposed during anything other than ejecting a round?
>>
>>29545961
>biggest pro is it's sealed system blocking out ingress of debris

>lets open it up and suddenly destroy the reason why its such a great design
>>
>>29546127
I see the AKfags are awake and didn't kill themselves last night like they should've.

Everyday an ARfag doesn't die from a heart attack is a miracle.
>>
>>29546161
Exactly.

>>29546131
Look up the dust cover that the Swedes use on their FNC rifles: they're spring-loaded to shut each time the bolt closes.
>>
>>29545961
Had a friend do it on a milling machine. Took a few hours. But the process was easy.

it's still too far back. i'm mainly thinking of trying something like this out before i go the whole side charging approach but it's 150 which is just bullshit.

>tfw you don't care

They knew that, actually.

The reason all the CS weapons (Save for the MP5, MAC-10, and FAMAS eject to the left is because they were originally designed to be rendered on the left of the screen, because the dev who made the models was left handed.

Also, pic related. He wanted to use the wrong sided models because he liked watching the action cycle.

The reason for the M4 animation was literally because he just looked at pics of weapons and tried to guess how they worked.

Why is this left handed mirror image issue true for about all older fps's

It's sad to say that one of the reasons I hated AR's for so long was because I thought the dust cover was supposed to work like the fnc rifles and the only reason it didn't was because of some random malfunction.
>>
>>29546937
You thought every AR with a dust cover was broken and you never questioned that?
>>
>>29545961

just buy a side charging upper, or one of those extension charging handles that allows you to side charge on the left. demo ranch has a video about it.
>>
>>29548406
I guess that's why he hated the AR.

>>
>>29545961
There's special bolt carriers and upper receivers made this way, you don't need to get it done to an existing one (which is probably tricky).

>>29546101
Why would it do that? The handle isn't hitting the receiver.

>>29546161
Depends on your purposes, range queens don't really need to be protected from mud all that much.

>>29546305
Could you put that shit on an A1 upper or would it just not work?

Yeah, it's cringy as fuck.
