Why isn't every soldier a special forces soldier?
If the seals have the best equipment and skills and tactics and training why doesn't the USA give those same tactics and skills and training and equipment to all other soldiers?
Why has no one ever come up with this idea
>>
It's unnecessary
>>
>>29522774
That's the mentality of the USMC.

"Every marine is a rifleman."
>>
>>29522774
Expense.

Enjoy replacing losses.
>>
>>29522774
It cost too much time and money and is not useful ?
>>
>>29522774
Listen, kid - everyone has a different job for different reasons. Take your multi-million dollar trained SEAL fuckups and send them against a tank platoon. Guess who wins. Send them against a squadron of fighter jets. Guess who wins. Have them coordinate a supply line equal to an armor advancement on attack. They'll fuck it up like a 3 year old Picasso.

Different jobs for different demands.

Grow up.
>>
>>29522774
Do you know how long it takes to cultivate a seasoned operator, lets say from CAG/Delta?

Jesus, you act like you make boot camp a bit harder and you'll make nail drivers out of 'em.

Come the fuck on it's not a practical idea.
>>
>>29522774
Numbers win battles.
Special forces never won any large battles.
>>
>>29522774
Good idea, spend millions training a soldier to be the very best at diving, parachuting, medical training etc.... then assign him to fix Humvees because some poor fucker has to do it.
>>
Because when everyone is super, then no one will be.
>>
>>29522774
You do realize those niche jobs have very high demands for physical/mental strength that barely enough people meet?

Troop morale and efficiency would drop if implemented anyway.
>>

Sure numbers isn't everything but
1) It helps
2) The nature of today's industrialized warfare mean numbers are more important nowadays than ever.

>Except yoru standard will be higher than a competing army.
How much special forces training is needed to operate a tank, fly a helicopter or operate artillery guns?
>>
>>29522774
Not everyone is cut out to be special forces, and it takes too long and too much money to make a whole military "special forces" level of skillz. However, a lot of people are totally capable fighters/intelligence/logistics personnel who make the big machine tick, but would never cut it as SF.

tl;dr why limit yourself that arbitrarily just because you wanna be 1337 you fucking 5 year old
>>
>>29522961
Considering the k/d ratio of SF, you wouldn't need tanks, artillery and humvees. Sending 1000 SF into a conflict would be enough.
>>
>>29522774
>If the seals have the best equipment and skills and tactics and training why doesn't the USA give those same tactics and skills and training and equipment to all other soldiers?

It's EXTREMELY expensive. It's only cost effective to spend that money on a few super humans and send them to do important shit.
>>
>>29523060

Now I know you are trolling, they would be pounded by the big guns the moment they are spotted.

Probably because they send SF on missions that don't require tanks, artillery, and humvees

1000 million dollar soldiers vs 500 million in gear and conscripts results in a win for the conscripts. SF controls engagements and has a whole command center coordinating support. Look at lone survivor or the other one with SF in a stand up fight. Even with cool toys it's hard to pin a company strength element with 5 guys.

>>
By what standard do you make a special forces soldier? Soldiers in modern military forces have more training than they ever have in the past, and even the lowest level soldier has more training than a WW2 era special forces soldier
>>
>>29523216
I can attest to that personally. SF blocked off Pacora River Bridge, stopping the Battalion 2000 from arriving on the drop zone where we were parachuting in. Their precise usage of LAW rockets and 203 grenades prevented the enemy special troops from killing many of us floating down onto the airfield.
>>
asking why isn't every solider in the world SF is like asking why isn't every car on the road a NASCAR car

bait thread/10
>>
>>29522837
You didn't even have to go that far. A decent amount of infantry would have been fine. Why so many people think sf types are like gundams, dynasty warriors and master chief idk
>>
>>29523060
You know what? I could say the same thing about snipers. but let's go further. You talk about K/D ratios but then proceed to list Artillery. Artillery has the best K/D ratio in conventional warfare. The only comparable force is air power.

Long story short, SF are men with guns. Highly trained men with guns, yes, but in the end they are men with guns. If they were deployed as regular infantry could you decrease the size of an army? Plausible. But in the end you would spend a hell of a lot more when you could use moderately trained, and much more readily available infantry.

0/10 you got me to reply.
>>
>>29522837
This.

Be aware that a platoon of conscripts can still defeat a super duper special forces unit if in the right situation. Cost penuts in comparison too.

Special forces missions have a lot in common with bank heists, they require careful planning and very skilled soldiers in order to carry out a precise very risky task. Special forces guys are not like the bosses from your favourite video game. They are killed just as easily as anyone else.

This.

Op, when you think of SF, don't think of Call of Duty or MGS. Think of Rainbow Six: Ravenshield. People who move around swiftly, quietly, and get the job done with as little direct confrontation as possible because they know that they can die just as easily as anybody else. You could kill couple Navy SEALs with a double barrel .410 by hiding inside of something and popping them in the back of their heads as they exit to go clear a different room. They are still human.
>>
>>29525090
Fuck even CIA spooks or the most elite tier 0 operators in the world can be killed by sneaking up to them and doming them from point blank. An entire team of Delta operators could be killed by one guy with an AKM hiding in some trees across from a building. He just needs to wait for them to stack up outside the door and then immediately magdump into them.

Why should a cook also know be able to perform underwater demolitions? Or a truck driver?
>>
>>29522774
because special forces job is not to backflip around and throw axes at logs to impress media.
Their job is to complete specialized tasks.
>>
>>29525147
Yes let's cut our military numbers to nothing and have exclusively SF operators. That way when WW3 or another European/Asian war happens we can go ahead and shit ourselves trying to cobble together a big army of retarded conscripts.

>WW3 will never happen! Not in our lifetime!
Literally what? A war involving most of the world with multiple major powers fighting against each other will never happen again? Shit, I give it fifteen years. You can't pretend a completely and easily plausible concept is impossible because it is scary. That is akin to the arguments anti-gunners use.
>>
>>29525186
At the rate things are going, world war scale conflict against an AI is more likely to happen sooner than WW2
>>
>>29525171
uh, seals are the equivalent to high school jocks. They convinced themselves they are great then brag about it to anyone within earshot. They are literally fish out of water. Their ground tactics are on par with infantry national guard. I'm straight up serious. They have a knack for getting shot over stupid shit like silhouetting themselves against a white aircraft hangar. Dumb fucks. They should stay in the water and leave the ground tactics to those of us who are actually trained and experienced.
>>
>>29525234
Every major conflict has been a proxy war against an AI. The space kikes.
>>
>>29522774
Why isn't every car a porche?

You need troops that can hold positions, who can man thousands of checkpoints all across a country. You need guys to guard convoys, to handle logistics, and in many cases to enforce law and order within the local populace during an occupation.

Plus, numbers count. Can you imagine if the 150,000 men who landed in Normandy had been just 10,000 elite, top-tier operators instead?

We'd be speaking a lot more German right now.
>>
>>29525234
Quite honestly this. GAI and then superintelligence are going to happen within our lifetime. It's quite impossible to know how any of them are going to act, but it will most likely have access to the internet, ensuring possible loss of millions of lives seeing as AI's govern most of first world's peoples lives

lol although this is probably true and dumb. It is somewhat right. They are not trained to deal with actual warfare. Just specialized missions where they train for 4 months prior on a mock up house. Not very special honestly. Its a lot of money to do a specific type of mission. What you might want is a Ranger type deal going on with everybody and thats still a bad idea.
