Apparently Daisy hasn't changed their lever for literally 60 years save to make them out of plastic now.

No love for air rifles /k/?
>>
>>29519925
maybe for serious air rifles. everything else goes to
>>>/asp/
>>
>>29519937
Figured since it shoots steel pellets it was /k/ worthy.
>>
>>29519462
bought one for my nephew at christmas, shoots way too far to the right and the sights only adjust up and down
gonna have to tap a leftover rail on it and install one of those 50$ browning reflex sights
>>
>>29519925
Isn't that a spring version?
>>
>>29519937
Airsoft is /asp/. Air rifles are /k/ related.

>>29519962
It is indeed /k/ worthy.
>>
>>29520358
They use a spring to create air pressure instead of filling a canister by pumping. There's no actual pin that hits the BB.
>>
>>29520445
I feel like this is bullshit. In fact, I'm sure of it.
>>
>>29520681
Actually that's how it works. It's not a very complicated or efficient design.
>>
>>29520681
Why is the concept that hard to grasp? Nerf guns work the same way, they're just much, much weaker.
>>
>>29520681
You're bullshit
>>
>>29520681
That's exactly how they work.

I still have this old Pumpmaster from a while back.
Used it to kill an annoying
sparrow today.
>>
>>29520766
this is why you shouldn't go off your antipsychotics meds
>>
>>29519462
Daisy made "real" guns for about a year, and only stopped because they didn't want to change tax brackets after being found out over making a diesel-powered .22.
>>
>>29520782
Why not? It's fun.
Nah, just kidding. Sparrows at my house tend to gang up on birds that are actually worth a shit (Stealing nests, killing them and their eggs, etc.) and it gets old seeing finches and cardinals getting chased out by pests.
>>
>>29520766
I had two of those as a kid. One got sacrificed and turned into a sawed off pistol grip shotgat. It was truly glorious, running around the woods and operating.

What?
>>
>>29520841
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8h3v5TbFTQ
euros are fags who don't have legal access to cap guns and as such need to simulate backyard fun with highly regulated 'guns'.
>>
>>29520841
Basically pellets with exposed primer on the bottom, and air rifles that had a fancy compression/expansion chamber designed to create heat where the pellets base was.

You probably know that diesel engines work by compressing the diesel/air mixture until it heats up to the point of ignition. Same idea here.
>>
>>29520841
Daisy had a short-lived rifle that ignited the primer of a .22 through dieseling. As in, the rapid compression of gas in the piston would overcome typical ideal gas laws as taught in high school due to turbulence, and would be able to ignite primers and powder.

Sorry about Americans being too fucking retarded to understand such principles. The Daisy in question was banned in under a year. Because America is a shithole.
>>
>>29520813
That sounds really fun, actually.
>>
>>29520923
>auto-ignition
>disel
Why not gasoline...?
>>
>>29520923
>>29520929
>>29520892
So it's basically one of those shaped pellets with a primer rammed in the ass and ignited by diesel instead of a firing pin?
>>
>>29520999
Diesel is a lot fucking safer since it requires compression to burn.
>>
>>29520929

It wasn't banned you dumb eurocuck, it was reclassified as a firearm because it was a propellant launched .22. Daisy didn't want to deal with the hassle of being a gun company so they stopped production.
>>
>>29520999
Gasoline has a really high ignition point despite being so volatile. It releases ignitable vapors at a low temperature, but is still comparatively hard to ignite.

Not that I could expect an American to understand things like this, but still.

I gave my daughter a daisy red rider for her fifth birthday.
We took it out side where I had set up a cardboard box with a target stapled to it at ten yards.
We went over safety, the parts of the gun, how to aim and stance.
I than thought her how to load and fire BBs.
We shot for an hour until I was confidant she could handle the little rifle safely.
I changed the target, gave her a box of a thousand BBs and told her to call me when she had enough.
I went inside and got a coffee than sat on the porch reading a book and watching her.
An hour went by and she was still shooting a round every fifteen seconds.
Two hours and she stops, puts the gun down and runs inside. After a bit she comes out with the first aid kit and asks me to dress her blisters.
She has rubbed the top of her fingers raw from cocking the red rider.
I rubbed in some peroxide and covered the raw spots with band aids.
The kid went back to shooting and I went for another coffee.
When I came out again the target was at twenty yards and she had to turn it minty degrees because two faces of the box where shredded.
Another hour and she finally stops. Run out of BBs.

She is now six and can shoot from all positions, right or left handed and is as accurate prone unsupported as firing the red rider off a bench rest.
By family tradition she does not get a rim fire of her own until she is twelve but she shoots my 10/22 some times.
>>
>>29521963
>family tradition
Why are you cucking your daughter in this way?
>>
>>29521963
Give her a .22 you fuck.
>>
>>29522306
this, buy her her own 22 but dont let her have free access to it, keep it in your things and let her use it

or get her a break barrel 22 air rifle, those things are pretty neat
>>
>>29522336
If you do, get the one of the nitro piston ones, they'really really good for varmint hunting as well since you can leave them cocked for hours as opposed to 10 minutes
>>
>>29522306

This.

Dont be scared she's going to outshoot you faggot.
>>
>>29520329
It's a BB gun, just buy a $20 red dot off of amazon.
>>
>>29519925
I own one its shitty.
It's spring not air.
>>
>>29520782

this is why you should grow up learning about animals
>>
>>29520782
Hey look at the hippie faggot who thinks animals sing and dance like in Walt Disney!
>>
>>29521963
Actually kind of adorable
>>
>>29520329
You realize you can bend the back tab left and right, right? With pliers? These guns are only accurate to about 15-20 ft; past that the bb starts spinning off.

Started both my kids on these things. 15yo Son just shot his first hog with a 243 a month ago.
>>
>>29520766
Doing Gods work there. Bought dad a pump scoped pellet rifle for squirrels. He stands back from open kitchen window and blasts them so neighbors don't catch on. Modern pellet guns are louder than I remember as a kid.
>>
>>29522273
>HEY THEY WANNA KNOW, HANK WHY DO YOU DRINK
>>
Bit of trivia, the company that became Daisy originally made windmills and other farm equipment. The original BB gun was designed by a gun who worked there and offered free with a windmill to help keep crow and other birds away.

>>29523231

What's it's like being blind? I mean other than dark.
>>
>>29521057
Yeah what would Americans know about gasoline combustion?
>>
>>29521057
The point I was making is that gasoline auto-ignites with much less compression.
You know, the reason why gasoline doesn't work in a disel, but disel (theoretically) works in a gasoline engine with the right design.
>>
>>29521963
>I rubbed in some peroxide
You're not supposed to do that, it's an old wives tale that made it into common practice. It disinfects by killing cells indiscriminately.
You are made of cells, so it does more harm than good in terms of healing time, especially when you consider that there are better disinfectants out there.
>>
>>29521963

Holy fuck give her a .22
>>
>>29521963

6 more fucking years until a real firearm?

If I was that kid I'd fucking kill myself
>>
>>29523587
when i played football in high school i would get crazy athletes foot. i would put each foot into a gallon ziploc and pour half bottle of hydrogen peroxide in each bag. once the foaming stopped i would rinse off my feet and within 2 days the athletes food was gone.
>>
>>29521963
Remember to give her some safety glasses so she dont shoot her eye out.

>>
>>29521963
Here's an idea, get her one of those Hi-Point rifles when she turns 12.

You might be interested in the 9mm or the .380, nice and light on the recoil. The .380s should be ultra cheap by that time, real nice and easy to handle for her.

They make 'em in pink now, and she'd appreciate the extra power and the inherent accuracy of the neat little rifles
>>
.177 or .22 cal for a air rifle?
>>
>>29520813
Dude, I did the same thing with mine. It was so awesome shooting that thing one handed and actually hitting shit with it
>>
>>29521963
you live in a country where you can own/shoot .22 at such a young age. Don't take that away from her or take it for granted yourself. Just give her a .22 when she turns 7 or 8.
>>
>>29524421

Here I am unable to own anything because of politicians and cucks like him are stopping their own children from using firearms for no reason

It's spring powered air you dumb fuck.

So its spring powered you dumb fuck
>>
>>29526630
Air is what propels the BB, therefore it's an airgun. Neither the spring nor anything its attached to ever touch the BB.
>>
>>29523181
My father has my scoped air rifle from when I was growing up, it's almost exactly the one that other guy posted. He shoots squirrels while he sits in the glider on his porch.
>>
>>29523697
By the athlete's foot being gone do you mean that you the athlete no longer had your foot?
>>
>>29519462
Why has Daisy not tried to blow up this design and make it shoot buckshot pellets yet? Would it not be able to supply enough air to push one at a decent velocity?
>>
>>29519937
Well, that's a little severe.

.177 IMHO. Speed is better than mass with the sorts of things you shoot with these rifles. Plus flatter shot.

It uses compression to heat air and ignite a nitrocellulose compound fixed to a pellet. This process is dieseling, similar to dieseling a normal air rifle but with nitrocellulose instead of petrochemical.

I have the rifle, pic related. No photos of the ammunition on my phone.

Also, there is no fucking primer. The nitrocellulose is ignited by the dieseling effect of air pressure.

Here is picture.
