Right on, I was looking for a thread like this.

Anyone have photos of the Raven arms .25acp? There's a weird lack of decent photos and I have a hankering for one.

Is a 1911 or a glock straight blowback?

Anyone at the range ask about those snek grips?
>>
>>29516020
No, neither of them are.
Straight blowback is the simplest a firearm can get. The slide is directly actuated by the energy from the round as it fires. The barrel doesn't move like a glock because it's attached to the slide.
The inherent downside is that the design can't really be used for any round larger than 9x18 Mak without making the slide massive, as is the case with Hi Points.
There's a little more to it, but that's basically enough.
Also, pretty much every straight blowback handgun has a similar and recognizable design.

Most Glocks aren't straight blowback except the relevent abominations that are the 25 and 28.

The gangs all here.
I would put titty grips on my P64 but Marshal Grips won that one.

Currently on the market for an Armi Galesi in .25 and a Sig P232.
Or basically anything else that would show up in this thread.

Returning to regular posting pattern as well.

Fun fact: The Raven Arms factory burned down in the 90s. Phoenix arms was 'born from the ashes' of Raven Arms.

>10/22 has a massive bolt

>22 pistols have small bolts

Why not just have a 22 pistol bolt system and save some weight
>>
>>29517268

Bump for interest, I would like to know the reasoning behind this design choice as well. Perhaps it's a sort of vestigial feature? Ruger has been making and selling these things like crazy for decades now.

With a rifle you have extra room to use a larger bolt that is of stronger construction and the 4 ounces of weight savings doesn't matter.

10/22's are made to last tens of thousands of rounds. .22 pistols are made to be .22 pistols.

Does this count? It's pretty short and can be fired with one hand.
>>
>>29518167
I'll allow it
>>
>>29517268
>>29517288
Longer barrel on the rifle means the bullet+gases thus pressure remain in the barrel longer. If a rifle used a pistol bolt then the bolt would begin to actuate before the barrel pressure had dropped enough split cases and increased fouling. Generally it is rarely an issue in .22LR firearms but in SMG and pistols it can be an issue if the slide mass isn't optimal.
