If its your very first build then 6.5 is an awful choice. Stick with 5.56 for your first couple builds, especially if youre so unsure of yourself now.

Accidentally posted in the last thread, but. Rate my build.
Just put the new generation midwest industries handguard on and gave the old one to my dad who wants to build one now.

It's an Anderson upper and lower mid tier parts in it. More of a rice gun, but it loves eating up my gas rings. Suggestions for those?
You guys think it'd look better with black furniture?

The Bolt collapses under the BCG's weight, generally around 400 rounds. Causing jams. Kind of using you guys for a gun diagnosis right now, I'm wanting to try different gas rings. But if it seems like another issue, I'm into it.

The first 200 rounds I shot through it were the Wolf Gold 223s, and then I bought a box of pic related, and now I'm 200 rounds away from finishing the 1000 rounds it came with.

Both of you.

Not doing this

> be in frustrating heat of moment and swearing
> hear annoy whiny voice of girlfriend sitting on counch watching her fav show or being on mobile for facebook saying something like "anon clam down you are scaring me please stop it calm down anon!"
> immediately put on maniac stare and walk over to the room and quietly stare at your gf and as she look over at you with your sweat covered maniac face and say "a-anon what are you doing"
> swoop to your woman and grab her at both arm (backhand her in cheek if she have been acting up lately) say "woman! i best not hear you tell me calm down ever again, i dont take kindly to lady trying to tell me what to do, my woman would know better!"
> let go of her arm with shove
> turn and leave the room and resume the work

6.5 CM is a hell of a round. Not my first choice for hunting, but damn near perfect for paper punching (but still plenty of bullet for white tail).

I use a 300 Win mag for hunting, and a 308 for plinking. I rarely get to shoot beyond 500 yds, so the 308 is much cheaper to shoot.

For the rare times when I can shoot to 1,000 yds, the 300 WM can easily carry its weight with 190 gr FGMM.

Over the weekend I got RSO certified on the Sniper and precision warfare ranges at Quantico though, so all that might change very soon.

Yeah thats why theres section at bottom where time of wild west and cowboy was brought up.

My woman wouldnt say shit like that though out relationships inform her what you dont like and expect of her if she cant do it she isnt one or your expectation is too high.

My mother didnt even say shit like that to my father.

Well actually she does but in much more genuine concern caring manner where she walk to backdoor and peer through glass and watch my father in garage and checking if hes okay or obviously needing help most of time she wouldnt say shit.

not in annoy-like shouting from another room as she sit in couch like if you are bother her not her being concerned for you.

One single bad or crazy girlfriend can fuck your whole world to shit. Be careful guys.

#1 use will be paper punching/long range shooting when I feel the urge for such a challenge. Secondary use will be hunting. Thats the thought process at least. Until I have the money to buy dedicated rifles for those two rarely exercised uses.

That's a rare gem; I was a member out at Peacemaker NTC in WV for a year. Their ranges were amazing--the 1000 yd lanes were electronically scored.

It just proved to be a little too far for the investment to pay off; I only went twice in a year.

I got it threaded about a year ago, and since then I've tried 10 different factory and hand loads and never got under ~1.5 MOA reliably.

Compared to the .5 MOA it was printing before I got it threaded, I'm almost certain that the crown got messed up.

Get that USDA or VA loan if you qualify.

Just don't forget that any down payment under 20% is going to require mortgage insurance on your monthly payments--and that shit stacks up fast. It's usually as much as the payment itself.

What size punch are you using?

How are you securing the material while hammering?

From which direction are you hitting the pin?

If you're using a small punch, size up to a larger punch. If using a larger punch, vice versa. I found that expanding the contact area to where it was atleast as larger as the pin aided in starting pin removal as you've got more gross force being delivered through a larger area (If the pin is slightly extended from the material, obviously.) A small punch will deliver a lot of force to a small area but it may not be enough to break it free.

Also, ensuing that all force is delivered without loss of force due to material movement is essential. You may not this it be but it do. Have the material as secure as possible so that there is no movement in any direction upon striking. You want all energy to go into pin. Prop up all points of contact with something hard if you have to.

Are you the one with the m&p? I've read that they go against industry norms and install their pins from the opposite side of conventional wisdom. Typically, pins are installed from the right (side with ejection port) inward. M&P's are apparently opposite that so they're installed from the left inward. You SHOULD be hammering on the right side inward to reverse this, that is hammering down on the side with the ejection port. Even though you've got calipers on it in the pics it looks like the side that measures smaller (and you've obviously been beating on) is mushroomed and would indicate the larger end of the pin, or the side you DON'T want to hit. Even if you don't have an M&P it's possible that they could have been installed backwards at the factory. Hitting it from the wrong side may even break it up enough to ease removal.

I read you were applying heat to it. What method were you using? Make sure you aren't heating the pin itself but rather the area around the pin.

Best of luck mate, don't let your frustration sour you against DIY.

I appreciate the wall of text m8, but it's stuff i already know. It's secured pretty good and I am hitting the correct side. My father also suggested smacking the incorrect side a few times to maybe break it free as well.

And yeah, idk what s&w was doing putting the pin in the other way. Oh well
>>
>>29489043
Except you appear to be hitting it from the wrong way. Based off your pics it looks like you're hitting it from the left side inward. Which would be the standard way. If S&W did install it backwards you should be hitting it from the other side.

I've decided to buy a Texas Custom TCG-15 as my first AR.

I've spent months researching, shooting, and getting a feel for other people's guns. I was debating between a KAC SR-15, DDM4V11, and an F1 Billet rifle, and after shooting my friend's TCG-15 I fell in love. All of those rifles above were nice, but they weren't nearly as slick and smooth as the TCG.

I almost got a RRA upper but they somd out right when I went to order.

So did BCM.. And Aero... And PSA...

Then I found the PSA upper as a rifle "kit" for $50 more than the upper itself
>sold the LPK for $50 and the stock for $80 because they were stil brand new and in their packages
>ended up getting a complete $500 CHF Premium PSA upper with a premium BCG and a basic charging handle for $420

Feels good man.

The magpul fixed stock is fucking uggo. No redeeming features even. You can add a QD socket to the A2 for $15 and having a drill.

You suffer from bad taste.

The magpul fixed stock is objectively uggo. You want a QD socket on your A1/A2? Its easily doable. Doing it again tonight actually.

The magpul fixed stock has zero redeeming features.

Cleaning kit can go in a pouch on your person, the likelihood of having to access it quickly is extremely low and would be better overall to be not in the gun. The bolt makes sense, but that could go in the pistol grip like what Magpul does.

For $1300 you should be able to walk away with a pretty good piece. If you stretch it you shot be able to fit an optic in there too. Always get iron sights before an optic though.

a budget AR is like $400-600. For $1300 you can build a pretty much premium rifle.
