What can one get that is decent in the 300 price range? i am thinkinh magnified optics something that is like an acog without the 1200 price tag.
i see a lot of people here rocking vortex sights. whzt is the general concensus on them?

I've bought a couple of used Aimpoints on eBay. You can usually find scratched up M2s for less than $300.

ACOGs are good sights, but not $1200 good. It's crazy how when there's little competition, you can charge exorbitant prices for a product. This is what Trijicon was doing for a while, now they're just selling $500 optics for $2k

Vortex has a metric fuck ton of options and a rock solid warranty (if it's broken, they'll fix it without a receipt, original box, or explanation). And their shit just works really well.

I hear good things about the Primary Arms 5x Prism. It's basically a low end ($290) version of the Trijicon Acog. The reticle is set up the same but it's smaller than the one in the Acog, and it's battery powered instead of fiber optic whatnot.
Still, I hear it's rugged, holds a zero, and is the best thing for that price range. I plan to get one on my AR come summer time.

Trijicon is almost entirely running on government contract money to justify their overpriced optics. For the price of an ACOG you could buy something like a Vortex Razor HD 2 1-6.

Not 5x but 3x was reviewed by the ak operators union and primary arms has some info on their own channel. I have 3x coming and ive used acog enough in military that ill find out soon if they are worth 4times the money
