Really? I've seen mostly positive things about PTR on hkpro. They had some issues several years ago because they tried using shallower flutes but changed that back and have been solid for some time.
You could use HK parts in a PTR.

I wanted their 4x originally, but they stopped making it
Then I was gonna get the 5x, but I'm also putting a 45 degree red dot so hey, fuck it, why not get the 4-14 with DMR reticle
Being as it's FFP I can zoom it out and the reticle won't be super busy
Only issue now is if I want to deal with a full size scope due to size and weight

This seems like the right thread to ask.
I'm looking to get an FAL type weapon with a 2.5k budget, this includes a little padding for accessories. I unironically wear short shorts when it's hot and sing along to Rhodesians Never Die. You will not convince me to spend this money on another type of gun until I have my precious.
Everything I've read says go with the DSA SA-58 in one of the various permutations, I'm leaning towards the DSA SA58 Para Carbine. What I would like is an argument why I shouldn't go for it for my FAL pattern rifle.

For over ten years I've used FALs. They are the best semi-auto rifles ever made in my opinion. Other than the weight (which does become a pain in the ass if you have to carry it around for 12 hours like me) it is perfect in every other way. I still use an FAL from 1983 that never had any main parts replaced and it's still superb.
