What does /k/ think of .357 SIG?
>>
>>29432191
10mm is the better snowflake round.
>>
>>29432202

10mm isn't even a snowflake round though
>>
I like the flat trajectory. Pretty accurate to shoot with.

I don't like how fucking loud it is. I mean standing side by side with a guy shooting .357 sig is like standing by someone firing a fucking cannon. You can literally feel the pressure wave it creates.

I think we all have differing opinions and it would be futile to ask for such a thing.

I think it's garbage.

9x25dillon is better

Can you put 9x25 through a .40 breach?

I'm about to spend 300 bucks to have my P07 .357'd, I love the round, I'm gonna carry it daily

Looking at side by side pics the neck of a 40 is slightly above the shoulder of a 9x25. So you could probably chamber it but:
-longer round won't fit in a 40 magazine
-the bullet would fly like a hotdog down a hallway
-while the case neck probably ruptures

It's more expensive than 9mm and doesn't really do anything better than 9mm

Just like most handgun rounds

Note, the permanent wound channel (dark) is the only part that matters. The temporary wound cavity is irrelevant because human body parts compress better than solid gel.
>>
Pretty irrelevant. Any of the bullets in the picture will kill. Its about shot placement. Fire rate comes second. " Power " almost irrelevant

It looks like .40 S&W really gets the job done there
>>
>>29432191
>.357 SIG

It's just a modernized version of .38-40Winchester.
It's shit compared to full power 10mm.
>>
>>29434763
it's actually not that much more expensive than 9mm
>>
>>29432191

It's the best self defense pistol round out there. It has the best combination of stopping power, capacity, barrier penetration and recoil. 10mm would be better but it's at the margin of controllable for accurate and fast follow up shots. 357sig can be fired just as fast and accurate as 9mm. It's just louder.
>>
>>29434763
>doesn't really do anything better than 9mm

Considering what it and every other defensive handgun round is supposed to do, you are correct. Non of them are ever going to be better than the other in that context because we have parameters set for what they should be doing. Chasing numbers only to back them down to the acceptable threshold is limiting when it's all about shooting people
>>
>>29435314
And then you have .38super and the various unnecked 9mm "major" cartridges that are just stronger brass. Don't get me wrong, I like .357sig but there are some pretty overlooked rounds out there simply because other things had just caught on sooner or the others weren't marketed.

Anyway I'm waiting to see a test of the Grizzly 180gr .357sig ammo. Probably identical to 180gr .40sw outside of sectional density
>>
>ITT anons ignore 357 sigs 1300+ fps and incredible barrier penetration.

A great round for law enforcement, not terribly useful to the average person
>>
>>29435098
Those pennies add up over each range trip.
Dollars become benjamins, and limit how much you practice. 9mm is widespread, "Gud nuff" and +P/Defensive loads are numerous, and advances are made quarterly. Guns and Parts for guns using 9mm are widespread and ubiquitous. Ergo, the free market has picked 9mm as the de facto Number 1, and it is the most economical, and practical choice for a non-specalist applications.
>>
>>29432242
Lol k
>>
>>29436300

I disagree. It has 45 acp+ stopping power, a proven man stopper, without the lol 9mm problem that occurs from mostly bouncing off and not breaking bones.

Barrier penetration is useful for civilians. Anything that gives you an edge.
>>
>>29436348
While I agree that 9mm is currently the best choice, I'll disagree that the free market chose it. It's all about the fact that it is the current cartridge for the military's handguns.

Lol, it's the cheapest option for defensive calibers. Cheaper doesn't equate to it being better.

You can get stuff like critical defense or just use +p 9mm if you find the penetration inadequate in standard loads
>>
>>29436741
>shooting someone 10 times instead of 3-4
>wasting ammo and being inaccurate.

.45 is the superior round and you know it. Stop latching to your failed cop dream. 9mm is inferior.

It is when you consider how few options there are for an affordable 10mm pistol.

I'm not an LEO, but I'm pretty sure that over-penetration is something that is not desirable.

357 Sig doesn't really do much more than a 9mm to justify the cost difference to me. You're shooting the same bullets and 250 extra fps isn't going to seal the deal if a regular 9mm won't.

All of them

How is it still legal!?
>>
>>29434278
The first dude who replied can't read and the second one is trolling. 10mm, 357 sig, .40 S&W, and 9x25 dillon all have the same breach face.
in theory, all can be run out of a gun that shoots 10mm as long the necessary mods are made,(barrel change, spring and magazine tweaks/changes ect. . .). the 10mm and 9x25 dillon cannot be run out of a gun that was designed for 40 S&W however, due to the fact that the overall length of the cartridge will be too long to fit in the magazine/mag well.
tl;dr buy a glock 20 and shoot everything.
