I would never pay that much for a compact, regardless of brand.

Depends, do you really like sigs? If not and you do buy it, you'll end up like everyone else who buys these. New to sigs and they decide it's not for them.

The legion p229's are more desireable than the p226's and are rarely available, especially for such a price. They go for $1,100+.
>>
>>29392109
Why are SIG P2XX metal frame gats so fucking expensive?

Same shit with the KAC ar-15s
>>
>>29392329
Sigs are more expensive to make than the average gun like a glock. Add that with tritium sights, aluminum frames and steel slides along with some more for the name and that's why.

If you think a legion is expensive, you should at least understand what you're getting for with your money.
>>29392344
And then you get retards like this that can't actually form a decent post and just meme on like faggots.

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Sigs are really good anyway, this will be a great go to gun for your next 10 years if you like the (agressive) grip texture and high bore sight

Just gotta buy grease thats $100/oz and slather the slide rails in it for it to function somewhat as expected.

Sigs are for fucktards that think Benz is the best line of cars.

no, they also point very low compared to pretty much ever other gun. Not to mention the decocker is where the slide release is supposed to be, the thin trigger is fucktarded - you have to make a fist for the hammer to drop in DA, and its bore axis is revolver tier

I own a Gen1 G17 and a German P228 with the SRT kit. Cost was within $100 of each other.

Neither one has ever malfunctioned in my hands, but I shoot the SIG twice as much because it's more fun. They're both fine guns.
>>
Fucking faggots.

1. lubricate the cleaning brush with gun oil and insert it into the barrel via the chamber (opposite the muzzle end).
2. Wipe powder residues and oil from the barrel bore and chamber with cleaning patches.
3. clean exterior surfaces of the barrel with a brush coated with gun oil.
4. remove dirt from guides of the frame, inside and outside of slide, recoil spring guide and recoil spring with a brush or cleaning patch. lightly lubricate same surfaces with a cloth impregnated with gun oil or gun grease.
5. lightly oil bores of the barrel and chamber. remove any excess lubricant.

note: TW-25B or a like lubricant designed for stainlesssteel is recommended for “all Stainless” models, such as the P220 ST or P226 ST.

I can confirm the lucas oil switch. I recently acquired a P226 Mk25 and it came with Lucas gun oil and the manual says that's the stuff to use.

However, TW25B is a great lubricant as well. In this case, I'll go with what they recommend.
>>
>>29392109
the thing about the 229 is it was developed for .40 and is super chunky. I'd rather have the legion 225 for a 9mm. Also it's exeter so between the finish and out of the box problems with the springs and trigger bar, I'd say there's a 40% chance it's going back to Exeter.
>>

but 1K is a good price.
>>
>>29395793
MSRP is about $1400, plus there's that Legion membership which includes exclusive offers and a free carrying case and model specific coin, so there's that if you're into that sort of thing. I don't think it's a bad deal, OP. Might as well try it out and see if you like it. You'd be picking up a top-line version for the price I paid for my brand new Mk25.
>>
>>29395752
>and it came with Lucas gun oil and the manual says that's the stuff to use.
because they knew that people who dont jerk it to sigs always tell prospective buyers the truth when it comes to the grease actually necessary to keep the aluminum frame from wearing away in no time.

>I'll go with what they recommend.
>but just their cheaper, less effective, alternative
Why not just put canola oil or cocoa butter on it?

I'll come back and let you know you're right when, eventually, the frame wears down enough to notice.
>>
>>29395965
The thing is, it won't unless you grease it. The slides on new sigs are steel while the frame is aluminum which is even more of an incentive to grease them. The older sigs had carbon steel slides that don't really wear the rails out that drastically but I still put tw25b on my german sig's.

Ignore the crybaby noguns, he probably believes canola oil is actually a good substitute because "fireclean iz duh sehm thing" and doesn't know it can go rancid.
>>
>>29395825

The thing about the carrying case is that when you show up to the range carrying your gun in the factory carrying case, I judge the fuck out of you.

So a sig legion in a legion case screams "I just bought my gun yesterday but let me tell you why it's better than a Glock."
>>
>>29392329

Because people are willing to pay that much for them, that's about it. I bought an HK and the slide lockup is great, but other than that it's the same as my glock and cz. As for Sigs, they do cost more to manufacture due to the all-metal construction, but the $900 price tag is there because people will pay it.
>>
>>29396010
Honestly, I'm liking the Lucas oil so far. It's not bad. my Mk25 has mostly been sitting since purchase, but i'll pick it up and dick with it and the lube is doing exactly what it's supposed to do so far. I'll be sure to pay close attention when I find the chance to take it to the range which should be soon. I've considered using TW25B regardless of what the manual says, but the gun came with free lube. Why not use it, you know? lol.

>>29396025
That's fair, I think. I tend to secretly judge the bubbas that show up with their SKS and tapco stock or a basic AR with tons of shit tacked on to an A2 handguard with rails they drilled on. I don't blame you for assuming that of generic Sig owners because that really is the case in a lot of instances, lol. I'll admit I'm a sig snob, but i'm not going to judge someone's choice of firearm unless it's just truly retarded.
>>
>>29393665
This. If he's selling, he needs the money. You earned your money, be protective of it and get yourself a deal. Ask how many rounds he's put through it. That doesn't matter too much, but it's a bargaining chip. If he says 'I've only put 500 rounds through it', you go ahead and wince like that's a TON. Pick out any mars or scratches. Ask him to take it apart. Find residue. There's ALWAYS some residue. He'll start to feel bad about his own firearm, no matter how well he thinks he maintains it. Pounce on him with a low-ball like $700 and I bet you walk out of there with a new (to you) Sig, which is an awesome carry piece, for $800. Source: I've bought and sold firearms at gun shows for years.

I never said anything about judging firearms. I said I judge you if you bring your pistol to the range in the factory case. You should set up a range bag by your third visit.

I mean if you dump everything and can fit a couple of pistols, ears, eyes and mags in your factory case that's one thing, but rolling up with the manuals still inside and the receipt still folded up behind the foam divider then I know you're a casual, regardless of how much your gun costs.

I own more than one gun, and usually bring about 200 rounds. it makes sense for me to bring a bag that holds multiple pistols, safety stuff, range tools, sticky targets and whatever other shit.

>he actually thinks Sigs are anything other than 100% reliable

Confirmed never touched one. Grew up shooting a P226, bought a CZ75 and sold it for a P220 that was a range gun, still damn near new condition. Out of a cumulative 10K+ rounds out of the P226 and so far 1K from the P220 I only had two failures, and those were FTFs- most of the time I shoot cheapo reloads from the local range. Story on both:

>shooting targets
>bang bang bang
>*click*
>drop mag, keep gun downrange in case of hangfire
>nope
>put mag back in, pull trigger 4 more times
>nothing still
>rack slide
>pull trigger
>*bang*
>>
>>29392109
I would try to get him down maybe a hundred more bucks.

What do they go for brand new, $1100? $1200?

How much has he shot it? Are there any scratches? Does he clean it after every range trip?

If he hasn't used it at all, and its just sat in the case, i say go for it. Otherwise, try to negotiate.

It LOOKS really premium and fancy but It's effectively every other modern metal pistol. I prefer the ergonomics of CZ's better but my hatred for manual safeties means I'm always strapped with my G20.

There is no need to tell anyone that a SIG is always superior than your peasant glock
>>
>>29392109
I like mine s lot but new they're $1250 at the local range. If I had it to do over, I'd still get a legion but probably the SAO 226.
That legion da/sa is as Colin noir put it, "an epic combat trigger " but the SAO is a match trigger. The reason I didn't get it was i didn't want a safety bit now... The grass is always greener.
Great gun op. Just consider what I'm saying and for used, no way I'd personally go over $900, I mean if buying used, there would need to be enough of a price difference and it should be coming with case and coin too.

I've been using Lucas red and shilling for it on k for years, they sometimes all it at auto parts stores because it's Lucas oil which is primarily an automotive brand. Stuff is great and when my new sign came with a sample I was like, "fuck yeah! "

Also, I may not be a super great shot but I rented a Sig at the range and this is how I shot it composted to my guns. This is why I carry a dog now NOT for any other reason
>pic related

What you get for the extra legion money
Upgraded trigger
More machining on the frame
Very good "x-ray " sights, seriously, they're good.
Upgraded grips
...and a little bling that is kind of guy I guess.

I bought mine because I shoot it better than I shoot other guns.
