What is the purpose of co-witnessing?

if your shit's fucked up, no problem
Being still able to aim accurately once your EOtech inevitably draons its batteries and does out
Being able to shoot straight when your dumb optic runs out of battery.
Dont buy red dot sights
They are for FAGS
buy acogs or similar scopes instead :^)

could you give me one solid reason why I shouldn't put a https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product1.php?id=RMR on my http://www.mossberg.com/category/series/maverick-88/ which will be sporting a https://silencerco.com/silencers/salvo-12/ So I couldn't use my standard double bead?
Having the same cheekweld for using irons as an optic.
Having the same zero for both the irons and optic.
Not having to worry about whether your screwed on optic can be quickly removed to get out of the way of fixed iron sights if it goes down.
So you can be received shiny and chrome.

To make use of optic more cumbersome.

so ideally you would have flip sights, and do a co-witness zero?
Better to have full cowitness or lower 1/3 cowitness?
>>29354325
Not who you were asking,m but yes, I would only ever co-witness with flip up sights.
>>29354325
Ideally you would have a single floating reticle of your choice automatically adjusting to external light floating above your gun that had a parallax free within a certain view-able area to about 30 feet. That would be the future of optics, which I feel might be doable with clear materials and basic as fuck hologram technomagic.

That's preferential. I prefer absolute co-witness, my friends and dad prefer lower 1/3. I think it just boils down to prefered cheek weld
>>29354387
Explain to me why the fuck you want shit in your field of view that is not essential?
>>29354366
You realize you're just describing holographic iron sights? You need mirrors and lenses to make a red dot work the way it does, a straight-up projection wouldn't do the trick.
>>29354263
i get it
>>29354468
Why isn't there a clear plastic housing one? Do they need to be airplane metal?
Also I'm mostly wondering if that is the limit of "red dot technology"

>EOtech
>aim properly
>>29353909
Nope. I have an RMR on my bullpup Saiga 12 and it's awesome. If you get a quick detach mount you could use your beads again.
