So I got a job offer to do armed security in Afghanistan. It pays $60,000 a year. I also just graduated the police academy a little over a year and a half ago. I have a little over 2 and a half years to become a cop in Florida before my certification runs out. I don't know what to do.

At least with the mil you have benefits to fall back on and perks like the VA.
Get a stateside police job in a big city in florida and you'll be making upper 40s to low 50s out the gate anyway, and could make up the difference working OT or rent a cop.

For what's it's worth I wouldn't, think about it... You get can a decent job starting at 40k with a pension at 20 years and probably start a drop program at 25 and have a nice amount to retire with. Most agency in Florida you can advance pretty quick and you'll be making 60k within 5 years. I'm in the process of graduating this year in Florida as well.

Just relax, yes they will ask you lots of intrusive questions and they'll poke at it once they hit a weak spot. First they'll run questions with out being hooked up then they'll ask the questions while your hooked, they might ask you further questions if you spike... First thing I did was stop doing stupid shit, then take what ever you've done and forget about it, start having hate for it, then start believing that's it's wrong for people to be doing it... It's hard to explain. For example if you feel guilty for pot smoking, forget that you've ever done it, start having disgust for it and you feel like it's your job to get it off the streets... It worked for me. Polygraph detects your heart rate, breathing, learn to control those. Background investigators will ask you if you've done drugs always answer no even though they ask if you've done anything in the last 5-10 years. They always say "honesty is the best policy" well that's bull shit because I can guarantee you 50% of the officers wouldn't be working for that agency.
