When the original gunsmith cats was made, there were only two CZ-75 models. They were both called the CZ-75 but the first model people called it a short rail and the second model people called a long rail, due to the rail length the slides rode on.
The manga IS correct. The original short rail CZ-75 was made out of tool steel, which is much harder than the steel used on regular firearms. The problem with this design was it was expensive to make, and it wore out tooling much faster. They were only made from 1975 to 1980. Many of these pistols ended up in Rhodesia and South Africa. Very few made it to the U.S. due to the Iron Curtain. A few made it into Canada and then into the U.S, a smaller number managed to get in illicitly. Some came in through Germany (soldiers stationed in Germany who purchased the pistols and then exported them to the U.S)
Many of these pistols were sold to the Rhodesian Army, and are labeled RA on the slides and frames. Many more were exported to South Africa. there are a few short rails that managed to get imported from these locations.
in 1980, in order to produce more pistols at a higher rate, they changed the steel used for production so they could lower the price and not wear their tooling down to shit chunking out pistols made of tool steel. On short rails, the metal in the front is thin, and using a softer steel would mean this area was more prone to damage. To re-enforce this area, CZ changed the design and extended the rail section in the front and re-enforced the entire region to strengthen it
in 1985, the Iron Curian fell, and the pistol was able to be sold to all western audiences. Production ramped up even more and this is where the "Muh machine marks" meme comes from
Rally has an original FIRST MODEL (short rail) CZ-75. They are much better made, the fit and finish is better and hence, they are more accurate than the subsequent mass produced CZ

This is correct, but let me elaborate more on this subject.
The article, while well written in post >>29328987 forgets the time period GSC takes place in, and seems to also forget when GSC was written. Gunsmith cats was written in the early 90s, and takes place sometime before that
The CZ-75B didn't come out till 1993, which was 3 years before the writing of the manga
During that time, as you have stated, there were really only two models out there. The original CZ-75 and the second generation CZ-75
The original short rail CZ-75 was machined from forged metal, so the notation out there on forums of the short rail being machined from tool steel isn't false, but from a technical standpoint, it would be more correct to say they were just machined from a hammer forged block of steel
This made the pistols heavier but also very durable, and the quality was exceptional
Small numbers were produced up till 1980, and at this point other countries were interested in purchasing the pistol in high numbers. When some of the models were sent to the Swiss, Swiss importers didn't like the thin inside rails and short frame. Rumor has it that Swiss engineers had a discussion with the engineers at CZUB, and convinced them to change to the long rail design. Either way, it was because of the requests made by the Swiss that caused the change in design. In 1980 and I think possibly up to 1981, long rail CZ-75 pistols WERE made with forged frames. Forged framed CZ-75 pistols have the words "Made in Czechoslovakia" in one line on the frame, rather than in two lines like you see them today. Both the short rails and the small number of long rails with forged frames have the lettering engraved like this. The forged pistols also all had a blued finish where as the later ones are painted black
I saw a long rail CZ-75 with a forged frame popup on Gunbroker a few months ago, I tried bidding on it but it ended up selling for $2000 a little out of my price range.

The new CZ-75s had their rails beefed up, the slides extended, and the front area re-enforced. However, in order to ramp up production, CZ outsourced the manufacturing of their frames to a Spanish company.
The Spanish firm contracted by CZUB was slow and run by jews (probably), and the frames they produced for CZUB were CAST instead of forged. This is also when they first started using two lines to engraved the origin markings
So instead of engraved as "Made in Czechoslovakia" they were engraved as
"Made in
Czechoslovakia"
on the frames, on the trigger guard, a dimple was also made on the side to engrave the coat of arms into, instead of engraving it onto the smooth metal in that region.
Not only were they cast, but the quality of the castings were so bad that the pistol reputation dropped immensely in the European market at the time. Military contracts were canceled, and shooting enthusiasts spread the news about the terrible quality CZ pistols had become on their second generation.
This is where the whole drama over the quality difference between the original CZ-75 and the 2nd generation CZ-75 comes from, because, as rally explained, the new CZ-75s were complete and utter dog shit.
