The assistant weapons officer on my SSBN is 100% antifunz.
For nearly 2 years we've debated daily over the worth of firearm ownership. I respect the shit out of this guy. And he's obviously very capable of doing his job. One of his primary duties is to manage the small arms program on the boat. which he does flawlessly.
He's just against personal gun ownership.
But the sweetest victory I've had in a long time came semi recently when he came to me with a confession. Him and I both drive S2000's, and he was driving down along the coast on A1A, (often a slow moving 2 lane highway) and some fat fuck bubba was all over his ass for not going 20 mph over.
Long story short, the guy ran him off the road, blocked him in and due to the S2k having the top down the bubba was at a serious advantage whilst wielding a length of pipe. When AWEPS got to work the next day he told me the first thing that went through his brain was he wished I was there.
I can say he's still a nofunz. But he's no longer aggressive and merely thinks an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

My cousin is Air Force and believes that there should be prerequisites to get a gun. He believes in mandatory gun safety classes and licensing. It's tough to argue with that when you think about the average newguns on the range.

Weapon safety is one of those things that is preached all the time, Marines should be comfortable with weapons and feel like they have absolute control over the weapon system, so I don't see how they could feel "unsafe" with weapons in their private homes.

(USMC, 2005-2011) Yes, several. However, most Marines I knew didn't actually care one way or the other. It simply wasn't an issue they cared about. Most Marines I knew were far more invested in the Taliban not being able to own guns.

I became anti gun during my time in the army. I basically got thrown into the arms room during my last two years which gave me a good understanding of fire arms. I didn't go full retard and see them as baby killing instruments; but I have a disdain for anything regarding guns. This includes the sounds, maintenance, and gun culture. If I ever see the inside of an arms room again I think I might have a stroke.
