I don't think America could actually complete the mission.
It's just too large and too demanding.
America could achieve air and sea superiority very quickly, destroy infrastructure and disrupt trade and commerce almost entirely, and as usual starvation and disease would kill more people than anything else.
However, there's just too much landmass for the army to occupy and resistance would go low and slow for a very, very long time. Terrorism tactics like fuck. American immigration policy would be.... unusual.
After the war dragged on a decade and citizens got sick of it, "quick solutions" like chemical and biological warfare would come to the table.

The US wouldn't need numerical superiority. It would need a very successful first strike to buy it the time it needs to destroy the enemies ability to fight back in any meaningful fashion.
After the first strike removes the possibility of nuclear retaliation, the air force can bomb every target in order of priority and the navy can destroy everything it sees. The army can guard the borders and set up forward bases in Mexico and Canada to deal with immediate threats to the border.
We have enough nukes to destroy every nuclear nations ability to hit us back any time soon.
After that it's a waiting game, killing people by starvation and disease, etc. You realize you can stop a hundred factories and a hundred farms by destroying a few power plants and highways?
We could achieve a very horrifying kill/death ratio.
