It's kind of ugly, in the sense that it looks more like really dirty khaki than a pattern someone made on purpose. It should be fine though. I use mtp because cs95 Bermuda shorts are comfy.

I actually think the Russians are on to something using game-style controllers to pilot their tanks, since the crews already know how to use them and they're safer than traditional controls. I kind of expect to see the west do something similar in afv designs soon.
Yes I realize the picture in op predates the Armata by several years, and that one probably does as well. Controlling a tack with a controller is a step up from little eod robots.
Also for camouflage I hate, ucp and that airforce fake tigerstripe are both trash, whoever thought introducing those was a good idea should be court martialled and shot.

Absolutely something that has been around. I used to carry around an iRobot 310. It used and off-the-shelf wired X-box 360 controller (complete with stupid, non-tacical bright green lights) which plugged into the control unit.
There were other robot variations which also used either PS2 or almost-but-not-quite PS2 controllers. And one "throwbot" which has a controller/screen which I swear looked almost identical to a slightly bigger original Gameboy.
Makes logisics and training easier to use off the shelf units or stuff compatible with it.

I never took a ton of pics, because at the time, I never really thought about it. Here's an old ass picture (not of me) that I took. But yeah, here's the 310 with visible lit controller. We put tape over it, then eventually spraypainted over the lights as a quick and easy solution.
iRobot is the company that seemed more interested in innovating to create smaller robots using more game style controls. Couple other companies made robots more suited to heavy duty use with much larger control layouts.
