What happend to the surplus 7.62x54r?? Has it already dried up?
>>
I've been trying to get a spam can for months now. No fucking luck.
>>
>>28891189
war in ukraine
people are reluctant to sell bullets for almost nothing when theyre being shot at. also the infrastructure to even ship it is mostly unusable. itll be a few years, minimum
>>
>>28891189
Sportsman Guide. Brass .308 is about the same these days
>>
>>28891189
Yeah, Ukraine kinda needs it now.
>>
>>28891189
And I just bought my first mosin with a spam can 3 days ago. What a fucking imbecile. I probably overpaid, too
>>
>>28891240
>he fell for the nugget meme
but seriously, what model and how much?
>>
>>28891252
I felt that it was time to add the fucking meme to my otherwise respectable collection, as I said I'm probably an imbecile.
Ok, I got an Izhevsk M44 made in 1944, unissued with no signs of use whatsoever and perfect bolt and bore with an unopened spam can for $420. Fire away
>>
>>28891240
yaaaa i bought an M44 for waaaaaay to much
but whatever.
just had a case of 800rounds of 54r come in the mail last week.
probably feed most if it through the svt though
>>
>>28891287
Not meme enough. You need to get memer.
>>
>>28891299
>>28891306
What do you guys think did I overpaid or can I feel joy in traces?
>>
>>28891287
thats actually purty good
not bad/10
>>
>>28891299
One thing I did good last week is I found an unissued in absolutely worded condition yugo sks with a log book that showed it was only inspected twice in warehouse with all the goodies for $400. That I know I didn't fuck up
>>
>>28891315
What would be a fuckup deal then, what do these Russian shits go for
>>
>>28891313
i paid 400. bore is counter bored and theres a refurb on the stock under the bayonet.
>>
>>28891331
Holy shit. Although from my cursory knowledge counter bore is NOT necessarily a bad thing. Well I guess we both hope for end of hostilities in Ukraine
>>
>>28891313
Well unissued is bullshit. If you had a pic I could tell you more. It's not a bad price for a m44 and spam can. Not good, but not bad.
>>
>>28891329
~$300 is fair for the rifle and $150 is about going price for a spam can right now. so more than $500 and you really ate it. $420 is perfectly reasonable.
>>
>>28891340
doesnt seem to effect anything. shoots more accurately then my sks.
>>
>>28891348
I agree however a tell tale sign is bolt. It's maching and it's without the usual tiny signs of corrosive being shot through it, a perfect metal. Stock has a few minor dings though. Probably isn't far fetched as it was made at the end of ww2 and those were mostly put into storage. I'm not interested in collect ability just in overall shape.

Bolts were stamped to match the barrel when refurbished. Look at the font. Does it really match what is on the barrel? This is how I know my "all matching" 1935 91/30 is not original. Also, the stock. Are the estucheons pressed in or is there none in the back and only a metal lip in the front? I just hate it when people are sold a line of bull and it happens a lot with these rifles.

Pic related is my m44. 1945, in a correct war time stock. Font on the bolt is the same as the barrel. I believe the only things they did during the refurbishment was counterbore the barrel and replace the floorplate. Got this for 250 about a year ago.

All laminates are post war. If it was late 1945 or later it could be correct but not a 1944. You didn't pay an awful price, but it was used enough they decided it needed a new stock.

Anyway welcome to the Mosin meme club. I have 7 more. I am working on becoming a meme master.

I got a '44 M44 in near factory condition Izhevsk for $80 like 9 years ago. Do I win?

Bolt is likely replacement. It could be original. The rifles saw little actual combat. They were issued almost exclusively to second line troops. Lots of vehicle drivers and such. I doubt they were fired much at all.

Where DO these spam cans come from? Are they all 70 year old WWII overproduction, or is at least some of it new?
>>
>>28896648
"new" as in being packed away in the 70's and 80's new, if anything. They're not that old and 7.62x54r.net has examples of old spam cans and they look nothing like the green tins you know now.

Was going to get a 7.62x39 rifle because of how cheap it is to shoot (probably cheapest intermediate centerfire, but then I thought about the mosin.

I don't know which to get.

go AK bro. will never fail you, more parts, more upgrades, more ammo sources, better on dindus.
>>

But I'm really just using it for fun, and the mosin will be more accurate and reach further.

Also cheaper, I don't even know what to get, WASR is cheapish but I don't know about them.

If mosin ammo was just as cheap (25~ cents a round) I'd likely pick it

I bought 25 crates after Sandy Hook and now own 3 veprs chambered in 54r. Pretty good move I think.
As far as the haters fuck'em. They will spend their time in lines at the FEMA relief stations when some natural disaster happens in their AO. Ask the people from New Hampshire that were mistreated after that ice storm several years ago. The mistreatment and openly hostile and sometimes violent behavior FEMA people exhibited on the citizens forced the New Hampshire legislator to pass specific laws forbidding FEMA from operating without prior permission from the Governor and they must answer to local authorities. FEMA confiscated guns, refused to allow people to leave their camps once behind the fence.
Let the haters enjoy that kind of hospitality, us retarded preppers will eat when ewe want, sleep where we want and come and go as we please.
One thing my prepper brother, you need to hide your power level like you life depends on it because it does. The haters are no more than "gimme dats" and will rally other looters to steal your food and property. Local bureaucrats will top that list.

Yes but people can't accept that it's not like 11 cents a round anymore so they feel the need to spout memes that the caliber's dried up/irrelevant or some shit. Honestly, there are plenty of good precision rifles in x54R and we're using machine gun grade ammo (poor individual shot accuracy, exceptionally hard primers) in rifles that were not initially known for their accuracy either.

tl;dr: they can't fucking move on and realize that the heyday of the Nugget is over.

There are also sevearl laws on the books that allow FEMA to confiscate hoards of food to "redistribute" in emergency situations. The SurvivalistForums posted a warning on it's home page for years telling people to be careful about large purchases of food and ammo online. Now with the federal law that only allows UPS and FEDEX to deliver ammo to residential home it's painfully obvious that they have large databeses of people who have prepped . I think it's so the bureaucrats starve last.

HIDE YOUR POWER LEVEL.
