"The General Headquarters of the United Arab Emirates’ Armed Forces has ordered Patria AMV 8x8 armoured wheeled vehicles. All details of the contract are classified.
“This is a magnificent extension for the ongoing, successful co-operation between the UAE Armed Forces and Patria. UAE Armed Forces have been very satisfied with their existing AMV vehicles as they meet all the customer’s needs and are suitable for the needed, challenging circumstances. These vehicles will be produced by our Polish partner in a very tight time schedule. United Arab Emirates buying AMVs is good news for Patria sure. It is just sad that Lockheed went full Chinese and fucked Patria to ass, by stopping cooperating on Havoc.

There is no "add on" armour for it per se as it always comes with some customer specified modular setup. But if you do know of a customer that has really ordered it with as weak side protection as Stryker please do tell, looking at the SSAB's catalog the same level of protection could be archived with just 5mm thick Armox plates.

No one is going to drive AMV without its modular armor into combat as that is the armor it has, the older style Stryker however comes with either base hull armor or that+bolted on extra plate. Completely different concepts mate. I do agree that comparing them is bit pointless as Stryker is decades older tech and far more fairer comparison would be to compare it to the older Patria Pasi.

Basically, the starting point of this whole buying spree was the Iranian revolution. Iran had some of the most advanced weapons in the world at the time. Things like the F-14, the Chieftain and M-60 tanks. Some of the stuff that went to Iran arrived earlier than the weapons were issued to the forces of the countries that had designed and built them. This escalated to a point were the British Challenger 1 tank with Chobham armor (Top Secret shit, even today.) was going to be sold to the Iranians. Then the revolution rolled through.
Anyways, decades later the rest of the middle east watched as Iran ran out of spare parts because their weapons were western but their allegiances were not.
So the third world countries (In the sense that they are not allied with NATO or USSR and not some poor hellhole.) that have money invest in both western and eastern weapons, and everything in between. Western weapons because they have more advanced capabilities (Speaking very generally here.) and eastern weapons because they are extremely common in the region. This way if one side decides to cut all support, they still have one lifeline left.

according to the contract, they will make 50 long version of the Patria, similar to the 5 vehicle with BMP-3 turret the UAE received in the 2008
