Tell me /k/, why are German guns so much better than all other countries'?

Looks like a more complicated and higher maintenance P64. Probably more expensive to make, too.

No compromise.
>>
Because, OP, they keep working without fail time and again. Let me give an example.
>He is recorded as having executed tens of thousands of prisoners by his own hand, including his killing of about 7,000 Polish prisoners of war during the Katyn massacre in spring 1940,[2][3] making him the most prolific official executioner and mass murderer in recorded world history.
>Blokhin's most infamous act was the April 1940 execution by shooting of more than 7,000 Polish prisoners interned in the Ostashkov prisoner of war camp in the Katyn forest. [...] Blokhin initially decided on an ambitious quota of 300 executions per night; and engineered an efficient system in which the prisoners were individually led to a small antechamber—which had been painted red and was known as the "Leninist room"—for a brief and cursory positive identification, before being handcuffed and led into the execution room next door. The room was specially designed with padded walls for soundproofing, a sloping concrete floor with a drain and hose, and a log wall for the prisoners to stand against. Blokhin would stand waiting behind the door in his executioner garb: a leather butcher's apron, leather hat, and shoulder-length leather gloves. Then, without a hearing, the reading of a sentence or any other formalities, each prisoner was brought in and restrained by guards while Blokhin shot him once in the base of the skull with a German Walther Model 2 .25 ACP pistol.[13][14][15] He had brought a briefcase full of his own Walther pistols, since he did not trust the reliability of the standard-issue Soviet TT-30 for the frequent, heavy use he intended.

German firearms are infinitely better. Regardless of caliber or use, Germany offers something similar but better. Go ahead, try to think of something they haven't done better.

Why the fuck do single action handguns even exist anymore for anything beyond target shooting? They are to the 1873 as a good handgun is to a double action revolver. You're literally limiting yourself in so many ways.

That's like using a Luger P.08 or Mauser C.96, both ancient single action designs. America just has a hard time letting go I guess.
>>
>>28666674
agreed. Germany is at the front of weapon tech at least in the realm of infantry weaponry. and for a time they were the front of all other types such as heavy armor, artillery, aircraft, etc etc

I own two handguns. I own two Walthers. I have literally not a single regret. Walther is such a great company between modern and older designs.

Fuck me do I want a Walther Gewehr 43. Or an MPL. Not that MP5's aren't better, there's just something romantic about the inbetween years in the realm of submachine guns.

Striker guns? See Walther P99, Walther PPQ, Walther PPS, H&K VP70, H&K P7, Armatix iP1, just look. All superior.

If you want to go low-tier, the VP9 series is in the same group as M&P 9's. They're probably okay at best.
>>

I've fired so many MP5's, probably 12 or so between like 5 or 6 different models. I've fired one MPL and it was okay, but the pure nostalgia made me melt, man.

>>
>>28667545
>>28667545
Yeah. The trigger performs only the single action of dropping the hammer. How is that limiting? What makes DA/SA or DAO better?
>>
>>28667561
>not skipping a step is not limiting
>>
>>28667561
You have to pull the hammer back every time you want to fire. If you're skilled at them then sure, they're no problem. If you think you're John Wayne and buy one as your first self defense pistol you're asking to get shot.
>>
>>28667570
Yeah. The gun gets cocked when you rack the slide after inserting a magazine and gets recocked by the slide moving backwards after firing. It's not skipping a step, it's eliminating a step.

>>
>>28668077
You do realize that the hammer on a 1911 gets cocked when you chamber the round, right? Or are you one of those retards who are afraid of a cocked and locked gun?
>>
>>28668077
Walking around with a SAO with the hammer back?
Also, 1911s you carry hammer back. You pull it and in the process you thumb the safety and you're ready to fire.

I would go Makarov for several reasons.
1. You know exactly who manufactured it. I know that S&W (and interarms? I'm not a ppk expert) was manufacturing ppk's under license for a while with some complaints about ultra heavy springs, sharp edges, and reliability issues.
2. I believe that a makarov will generally be more reliable.
3. You get the extra punch of 9x18 over 9x17 (.380)
4. Cheaper
5. You will cry less when a mak gets wear and tear from carrying. Makarovs get more glorious with wear, ppk's get uglier.
My 5 cents

I would go with Walther for several reasons.
1. You know exactly who makes it. I know that early PPK's are excellent and often sought after as historical pieces. When Walther began importing them to the U.S. through InterArms the quality was not to the same level for a diamond in the rough, but since they've began using S&W as an importer they've brought their quality control back to wartime degrees so that each and every PP is magnificent, not just most.
2. The PPK is proven to be as reliable as a Makarov given that the Soviets pretty much just copied the design.
3. You get the affordability and commonality of the .380 ACP cartridge.
4. Higher build quality and attention to detail.
5. The smaller size and immaculate construction will have you taking extra care of it. It will be a piece easy to conceal, a tool easy to use, and an heirloom that is special when passed down.

Go Walther 10/10 times.

Same here. I never got why people wank off about it. They seem overly complex for what they are and more pricey because of it. I guess from a collecting standpoint its a neat field to get into (I even know a guy who collects lugers, has like 8 of them). From a shooting standpoint, though, its not anything I find interesting.

To be fair, Maglite does make a pretty good product for $20. I've had exactly one flashlight fail me over nearly 15 years of backpacking, shooting and camping, and that was because I dropped it down a thirty-foot cliff onto solid granite.
>>
>>28671511

I think make Maglite's bigger problem isn't that they make a bad product compared to what they made 20 years ago, but that their product is not as good as modern alternatives. They didn't really do a good job transitioning to small led lights.
